of coarse they will take a back up keeper. They dont want there opener to have to keep if haddin gets injured. to much pressure on a bloke who is yet to debut. but i think Choc will go he is only 29 and he is definently the best gloveman in the country, and he will get picked by the selectors in the Team of the year again

Haven't seen much of Chris Hartley i see.

Adam Crosswaite is sooo far this country's best keeper it's not funny. If only his batting followed suit he'd be in the team right now.

I hope you are saying this in jest NFC. Crosthwaite hasn't even been keeping for Victoria in first class cricket. He's been playing as a batsman with Wade preferred to him with the gloves.

Manou is about 3rd behind Paine and Hartley.

Ahhhh wrong number RR. Crosswaite keeps, Wade fields. I think only once has Wade taken the glove ahead of Crosswaite. I guess they know he can keep and they want him to solely concentrate on his batting.

ODD he does, Wade fields.

Crosthwaite has played just 2 first class games this season and has not kept wickets in either of them.

Spot on R In real cricket I.e. first class not list As Crosswhaite has barely played this year and Wade has had the gloves. You can check all the Shield pictures this year, the keeper is wearing Puma (Wade) Crosswaite uses Kookaburra.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

That's because they know he's a capable keeper. If Crosswaite can't make it and fades out like so many others, they want a replacement and in Wade they have one. He's trying to improve his batting, playing as a pure batsman will help that.

I'm confused by your posts NFC. What are you trying to say? Are you suggesting the Vics are just trying to get experience into Wade so he can take over from Crosthwaite if he fades out?

The reality is the Vics pick Wade because they see him as the better option and that's it. The only reason Crosthwaite got two games is because there were about 6 guys missing due to Australian duties or injury.

hartley ahs just scored his second ton in a row aswell! he is 120 odd now not out demolishing a shite NSW bowling attack...
Manou is ahead of paine and hartley atm IMO, he was the sheild keeper in the team of the year and has improved again this year!

Yes, I think it's time we stop dismissing him just because of our prior-season opinions of him, or just because he's Graham Manou.

Paine might be the longer term second-keeper but for a current back-up (not the same thing, you just need the guy who would do the best job in a once-off tomorrow) then Manou is surely equal to anybody. Very highly rated by team-mates and opponents, good batsman, captains his state, respected. Just not rated that highly on here it seems :?

hartley out for 121 or there abouts, manou moves into the 80s and paine out for 1 for tasmania!!
the great form of manou and hartley is turning it into a two horse race for the back up keeper for the ashes (if there is one taken)...
and for all those that wanted Ronchi in the side, he is sh** n is back where he belongs, grade cricket!

Agree with that especially the Ronchi part. He is shizenhausen.

Paine has been in ordinary form with the bat lately. Haven't seen him keep for a while so i can't comment on that part of his game.

Manou has been selected in the 30 man Squad for the 20/20 world cup, so now we know he is second behind Haddin. Haddin could get rested before the Ashes as well....

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it ? How many people would have said Manou would have been second choice keeper for Australia at the start of the year? Not many i would say... and interestingly enough i did not see you make a call early? Sitting on the fence until a decision was made?

Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Sometimes stupid comments come back and bite you on the ass!
Posed the question about Manou, never said he was a certainty, but didn't make stupid comments writing him off either!
