I forgot that Prasanna Jayawardene is the wicketkeeper in Test now and not Sangakkara. Sri Lanka don't mind doing that - Mahanama/Tillekeratne they played with, and I have a sneaky feeling that Sangakkara also played in a match with both of them as well.

Something that the Australian selectors could have considered with Gilchrist and Haddin in the team together, or even Haddin and Manou now. :) ;)

End of the day

Younis still in on 306*

Pakistan going at a thrilling 2 and a half an over and less than 2 in the last hour. I feel sorry for the commentators and the Umpires because this is the exact reason why some people think Test Cricket is on the way out.

Younis really slowed down in the last 12 overs. The only thing left for this match is to see if he can break Lara's world record 400. I questioned the possibility of him even reaching 500 at one point but that was based on him reaching around 320-330 by stumps. I would imagine he will be quite conservative in his quest to get passed 400 so i don't think there is any chance he could score at anywhere near the rate required to make a further 194 in a day.

Has this been done B4 in Test cricket?

I know there has been heaps (well not literally) of 2 double centuries, but I can't find any with three in them.

Still only 2 doubles in this test, with a triple thrown in for good measure. ;)

Younis scored only 4 runs off the last 13 overs
Geez, u would think u'd be seeing the ball all right by the time u made 300.

sangakkara averages about 80- when he doesnt keep so its a good move to play someone else with the gloves

Younis out for 313.

Now the game really is not worth watching.

What channel is it on? I know it's not on Foxtel (surprise), but where are you watching it from?

The interest now would be in Pakistans' highest Test score of 708 I think.

And I think this is only the 2nd time that both teams have scored 600+ in an innings in one match.

A class player is Sangakkara. He would probably be in any countries first XI.

Another thing to look out for is that Murali is 8 balls away from 7000 overs sent down at Test level.

First-class: 1344
List A (One Day 1st class): 628
20/20: 28
Total: 2000

Last 10 overs @ 8.2!!

Maybe they think they can bowl them out cheap, as Younis has declared with the score on 6/765

Kamran Akmal not out on 158.

Sri Lanka 3/54.

But Kumar and the two players (Samaraweera and Jayawardene) who made double hundreds are still to bat.

Match drawn with Sri Lanka finishing on 5/144.

Both captains agree no result is possible so the day finishes early.

Next test 1st of March, lets hope for a bit more life in the pitch.

Brilliant knock by Younis. I'm not sure he will be back given he's now the Pakistani captain but I'd love to see him back with the Redbacks next season. Great batsman.

If the results of the matches played at this ground are anything to go by, we will see more of the same:

Pakistan: 12
Opponents: 6
Draw: 21

Currently 3/277.

Sangakkara and Samaraweera both have made unbeaten hundreds.
