Anyone tried to sit down and prep a balanced, fair to ALL clubs, zoning system? Bloody hard work, am in the process of a similar exercise at the moment and it just isn't possible.

To just do zones purely on males aged 10-19 is simplistic but probably not fair in the overall scheme of things, it should be a complicated formula based on many things IMHO.

I'd like to counter this arguement and say that kids in zones close to the city have a wider choice of sports compared to zones further away, where footy and netball are pretty much the only sport you can play.

That's a fair call and one I hadn't considered, yet another point showing it can't be simplistic and a decent study would need to be done weighing up the various advantages/disadvantages of each region.

Bollocks. Sorry.
There are plenty of options for country kids sporting wise - football, netball, hockey, soccer, dirt biking, skiing, basketball, volleyball.

not really DW it depends on the country area though. for the riverland kids they may have those options. But where I played my junior footy (Eyre Peninsula) footy was the only option or golf. Unless a kid lived in Port Lincoln or Whyalla they were pretty much the same boat as me.

I really think the Blackwood thing should be put to rest, just like the govt once they have made a decision that's it they won't change it,but maybe next time will think about it a bit better. :D :D

While on the subject of development zones, I reckon its a disaster Sturt has seen fit to give the old heave-ho to long serving development manager Rechers. Apparently in a restructure, the amiable 'Budgie' has been railroaded and has left. Has done a magnificent job in his time, much more than those in the know at Unley obviously know or appreciate?? A club hanging on for its life can't afford to get rid of those who have stood loyally by. :butthead:

That is sad to hear that news Rechers is one of the nicest people going around the football community.

Yes you're right - only the metro one is there.
I think it's a hiccup on the SANFL website, as the heading is for Metro & Country, yet only the metro one is displayed.
"The SANFL Club promotional boundaries define zones for each SANFL Club for recruitment and football promotion purposes.

Each zone is described as a geographical area of the State for both the Metropolitan and Country regions. SANFL Club zones are reviewed every 5 years in line with the national census"
