ACE, Lets just say Mr. Hermann did not leave much in the Kitty and had a bit of cash to play with while he was there

Players like Mackenzie, Sandlands, Slattery, Miles, Horsefield, Hermann, Young etc do not play for meat trays :)

So for Ben it was tough early to cover the losses, without the funding.

But this has improved now, and this year (unlike last year) we have recruited some top blokes and players to the club that will stick around and do the right thing.

if hamley keep getting pumped week in week out they will be recycling players every summer no player paid or not is going to enjoy the trip to lochiel this year

Who are the Balak posters on this forum?

They have been quiet?

How are they going with pre-season and youngsters etc?
Some folks are wise and some are otherwise.

No just stating the facts champ.
Wfc can't compete with APFL or Hills by offerring fringe players money or a guaranteed spot in the A Grade, its been happening every season for the last 20 years so theres nothing new to be bitter about its par for the course.

Yeah I can see your point Pinch.

But you must be careful not to just look after the clique first, and worry about the rest much much later because they are not that important...

And "look after" does not mean money or an A-Grade spot. It can be much more simple than that.

I just would be a little worried about the PR skills of the new coach. This has been his downfall at other clubs.

Anyway Pinch. We can discuss this elsewhere and not in the APFL thread.

FGH, just from reading these posts recently, would i be correct in assuming that there is a bit of an issue with Hermann & the club. Not a major fall out maybe but it seems there might be a healthy respect for what he did while there but some resentment now in the way he left. Can you explain? Or am i reading this wrong?

Unsure that the players Hamley have recruited are going to be stars but they are all decent guys. Unlike other team's who have money to chuck around i have to say that i take my hat off to hamely for going down this direction. They should all play A grade and will be good club people i think in country footy that's all you can ask. Who want's idiots who go and play for heaps of money and think there bigger and better for the club.......... ;) ;)

No there is no issue with Hermann and the club at all, we knew it was going to be his last year in 05. He brought us the most success we had had since the late eighties. Also it was not like he was given blank cheques to play with and ran us dry or something.

There is no resentment held towards anyone really. It was just disappointing that all those great players we had recruited, all left at once in a bunch of 16 clearance forms. But most had their reasons.

Does that answer?

Appreciate you might think these recuits are nice guys, but promoting a culture of participation and social sport at A grade level is pretty pathetic.

Liquid your obviously an Gawler Central member. No serious issues with anyone currently at H.B.

Hermann was seen piggy backing the adelaide slurry in a pub on the show.

Jesus pinch. I have said elsewhere in this thread that I think they will be good A Grade players in APFL. Especially Macereth, Green and Latimer who are proven A-Graders in the Barossa and elsewhere.

NO KIDDING the fact they are good players is paramount!!! But we also needed to recruit blokes that will do the right thing. No more of the types who play, take money and run. I think this is a good direction to take.

So it is not a culture of participation smart a**e :)
