false advertising "4 nice blokes".
I would have thought Tony Edmonds would have gladly paid for a cab (or limo if tips is involved).

Will the Goodwin brothers Matthew and Paul play, will Tom George come back into the side and will Dominic Romeo finally take his place?
As asked by Bluey in the paper, is anyone coming back?

Advertiser p 4 and editorial are interesting. Deafening silence from Marble Range on the issue. Not sure if it rated a mention in the Times or not. Does anyone who was there think it warrants a 'severe reprimand' from the PLFL?

Here's the article from the net

Under-12 player 'punched' umpire during gameBy Chris Salter

A SOUTH Australian country football league is investigating an under-12 match during which a junior player allegedly punched an umpire.

The Port Lincoln Football League yesterday confirmed it had established an independent tribunal to investigate the match, between Mallee Park and Marble Range, played last Saturday.

It followed a written complaint from the Marble Range Football Club, in which it was alleged a Mallee Park junior, believed to be as young as 10, made contact with an umpire.

The club felt the matter was so urgent the letter was delivered to the league just hours after the match finished.

Port Lincoln Football League president Greg Fitzgerald said the league took the report seriously and launched the inquiry immediately. "The information in the complaint is disturbing and it is concerning," he said.

"This is the first time anything like this has ever come to us in an age group like this.

"One of the concerning aspects that is being investigated through the inquiry is whether or not there was interference with an umpire."

The tribunal, which is made up of three commissioners, met on Sunday, Tuesday and again last night to investigate the matter.

Mr Fitzgerald said the commission would use any measures necessary to resolve the complaint, including interviewing witnesses. The panel had the power to impose a range of sanctions, including banning players.

"It has to be ascertained if what's alleged is true," Mr Fitzgerald said. "The children are only 11 or 12 years old.

"A number of people from both clubs are assisting them with their investigations." Police were not investigating the incident.

Marble Range Football Club Colts committee president Grant Sampson, who lodged the complaint, would not comment on the matter last night. He did not want to discuss the match while it was before the tribunal.

Some spectators at the match described some players' behaviour as the worst they had seen.

Mallee Park Football Club has produced AFL players including Port Adelaide's Peter and Shaun Burgoyne and Byron Pickett, and Adelaide's Graham Johncock.

I haven't commented because I didn't even know it happened, first I heard of it was through Mavericks post!! I heard about the vandalism but nothing about this incident which is strange. If the facts presented are correct, which obviously they are, we are well within our rights to take issue and I'd expect the support of all other clubs. The MPFC also needs to support the need for discipline and take their own action (kid sits out the rest of the year) and if they continue to deflect criticism and deny problems, the League needs to hold another of the meetings that was held earlier in the year regarding this club and maybe a different, harder decision made. As Bish stated, they are a law unto themselves.....

footnote : the A grade game was played in great spirit and this has detracted from what I thought was a great day at the footy, something I've previously said doesn't happen when playing Mallee's

source tells me that 3 of the underage perpetrators have been identified and suspended from the last game plus the Wayne Evans (U/12) Shield. They have left the matter of restitution for damage between MR & MP...once again the club has belted them with a feather duster.

tips...grub is the master of disguise, almost unstoppable.

One game suspension, if true, makes the WHOLE league hard to take seriously, and that's not right.
Maybe the earlier talk of Bostons folding should relate to another team, but it won't be results-related, but behaviour-related.

I won't be using the crash helmet on Saturday. Perhaps i'll lend it to one of the men in orange as it appears it is now open season on umpires. Minya & Dom could play Saturday but i don't think they will. If anyone locates TG please inform his employer and loved ones.
