  tell me your kidding duke! Burgess leagues best forward???? Unless he's having the pre-season of his life and dropped a few, I dont think he's quite in that bracket just yet. In front of him I would have Brian Montgomery, Daniel Feeley, Willy Searle (last year), David Barnes, Ryan Reid, Sam Jericho and Evans boys.

Feeley, Barnes and Reid??? Tell me you are kidding SD?

He kicked the most goals in league last year, in the bottom side = best forward last year

Certainly not mate, are saying you dont rate Feeley, Barnes and Reid FGH?? or that you would prefer Boris Burgess in your team rather than Feeley, Barnes, or Reid??
Yes he kicked the most goals last year but what attributes make him better than the three i mentioned?

Feeley kicks his 40-50 goals per year in a top team with multiple scoring options
Reid is a class act that kicks plenty of goals each year and bring plenty of other team mates into the game as is part of a successful team
Barnes, ex-league player, who is as tough as they come and whose defensive efforts in the forward 50 are unreal and he kicks plenty of goals in a top team

Ha ha ha. Exactly Swampy. Burgess at Hamley equals only scoring option.

When Burgess gets a kick at a team that can win a game, then I'll take him seriously.

Was he at Hamley during the Hermann years? If he was, the circus left town and he was left hanging with the clowns.

both burgess boys think they are the better than the rest, lets leave it at that and move onto topics more important. You are only inflating their egos with talk like this. Ben is past it and brett never made it, simple as that!

No Burgess boys were not here then. Only 4 consistent (A-Graders) from hermanns years stayed at hamley. And they are not clowns, just loyal to their club. Shrek this is just another example of you speaking absolute crap like you do in all the forums you post in.

The hermann years were pretty good. But the exodus of 16 Players from our last GF side, has been very tough to recover from.

Are any teams in our league playing in the Riverland Carnival this year?

Don't worry about it too much Gilbert. Just Shrek again showing his (lack of) great knowledge of our league.

Not playing in carnival. Got trials organised against CMS & BBH. How about you guys?

No way am i saying that SD. I would love all of them in my team.

I think Feeley is a very good player (I was surprised you put him on your interchange recently when you made up a hypothetical team for 09), especially for someone who played soccer all through school, a bit of a shame he did not start Football earlier. Always gets under teams guards and I dont think I have seen him miss many goals since he came up to A-Grade. Does some very freakish things at times also and makes them look easy. Hard to match up on.

Barnes is very very hard at the ball. I know he kicks goals, he kicked 9 against us at Lochiel. His prescence is also very strong also. Wopuld take Feeley over him.

Reid is a proven gun player.

I am of course biased and would go with Boris Burgess over these guys last year. Does not miss many goals, makes something out of nothing, draws free kicks, gives a lot to the team (despite what you lot think you observe), kicks lots of goals on a regular basis, very very good at ground level. I would love to see him get fit to add to all of this.

Also, I am not Boris Burgess, I told you I have been out there for nearly 7 years. But thanks for the pies anyway fellas.

At this stage I think we are playing Eudunda, Robertstown and maybe another against Macclesfield or Trinity Old scolars or something.

You keep saying how tough its been for Burgess with all these players leaving, and I am mearly pointing out that HB were in the same situation when Herman came, and within 1 year he produced a team which played in 3 consecutive grand finals and won a flag.

So FGH or someone....How did K.Hermann manage to attract so many good players to Hamley anyway (Including you I assume!!!)? From what I have heard you would do best to avoid him these days :D

Whether he brang those players or not, prob not easy to recover straight away.

It is always tough in country clubs that struggle for numbers to keep a balance between locals and imports or blokes that come for the coach or money. Would be tough when they all up and leave with the coach or after the money dries up! Like you often see in the hills league.

From what I have heard and read on this thread Hamley appear to be going in the right direction NOW in 09 with plenty of young local lads and this years new recruits have mates at hamley (found this on the BL&G forum), which is always a bonus.

Mallala and Hummocks seem to have shown that recruiting is just as much about recruiting the quality bloke as it is the quality player.

With all this in mind. Virginia will be very interesting to watch this year!
If I wanted to hear from an A_sehole...I would fart.

ACE, Lets just say Mr. Hermann did not leave much in the Kitty and had a bit of cash to play with while he was there

Players like Mackenzie, Sandlands, Slattery, Miles, Horsefield, Hermann, Young etc do not play for meat trays :)

So for Ben it was tough early to cover the losses, without the funding.

But this has improved now, and this year (unlike last year) we have recruited some top blokes and players to the club that will stick around and do the right thing.

Well Son_Of....Hermann could probably sell sand to the Arabs, so that always helped. As I mentioned above he had the $$$ and created an initial group of gun players and it snowballed from there.

Not sure how he is these days... :-#

Boys (and girls possibly), lets get onto some more positive news for 2009. What young players for your clubs do you think may stand out in A-grade this year. I am not talking about recruits but 2 or 3 players that have been around the mark the last couple years and should step up to the next level or an underage coming out of juniors that you expect to step straight into an A grade role (ie young Nankivell from Balak etc).

Speculators, for your information Hermy did not bring 13 players, he only brought 4 namely - A.Pasin, D. Whiteman, J Lampard & A. Natt. The remainder were locals, imports that were already there or players that were instigated by other H.B.F.C members that most likely would have played no matter who was coaching as mates + cash were available at the time..

In saying that his efforts in his first year at Hamley earned a lot of respect throughout, and all associated got around him which subsequently provided H.B.F.C with a premiership in 04.

P.S for christ sake please close out the Burgess arguement.

H.B.F.C- J. Eastwood. Played couple A grade games last season and oozed potential, was still an U17 then but now is senior.
