I think the GF will be at lobey, they wont make the finals in any grade, they are out of the junior and senior colts, wont make it in the B's (Lofty, Blackwood, Mt Barker, Uris and probably IB), A's ... well its highly likely it will be a Lofty vs Uris final. Bring on September!!!

Lofty v Onkas grand Final at Loby. Dont be suprised if Loby knock off Uradla this week. They will be very desperate to win.

Clearly you could not predict that lofty would be out in straight sets. For a team that will win minor premiership dont they deserve some respect. Beaten the 2nd top team twice and are on a mission.
Not that uraidla would give any as they apparently turned their back on the presentation of the courier cup and could not even show some sportsmanship - if you ask me coldslaw was made of cabbage and eaten at the lofty club rooms sat nite.

True they are going alright at the moment but stranger things have happened and finals footy has a funny way of bringing the strange out! All I'm saying is don't write off Uri's or Onkas just yet, it should make for an interesting finals series.

Onkas have got to get over Uraidla first. Uraidla cant keep up with the speed and skill of Lofty.

Yes i think that Uraidla were disgraceful in what they did during the presentations. Im sure if they won they wouldnt want that to happen to them, thats just given mt lofty more determination to kik their ass GF day.

uraidla are a tall marking side where lofty are a small, fit, running side. uraidla wont care about the courier cup result, they have much mroe important things on their mind. i do not think it will be a devils vs uraidla gf...i reckon either devs vs onkas or uraidla vs onkas.

I know it's been said, but it really was a poor post match effort by the Uraidla club. Yes, it's only a Courier Cup, but sh#t, they're a better club than that. Huddling and 'strangely' finishing the huddle just as the presentation was made...earnt them NO respect at all. Disgraceful. But I was told by some onlookers that some Uraidla players wanted to turn to acknowledge the events, but their coach kept them in the huddle. Damn sook. That just made Lofty sing the song louder.
BTW - interesting concept at Uraidla clubrooms - showing the game on the big screen in it's entirety, after the loss...don't acknowledge the Devs cup win, then show the game in your own clubrooms. Wonder if the coach rocked up to that?

The onkas mid field seems to be the best going around it reminds me of Lobey teams from the past. Especially when it comes to finals played on big grounds. They do seem to get caught up on the smaller grounds. Was this a factor in their win over the devils during the year?

onkas midfield is strong but it cannot compete with loftys...and it still doesnt come remotely close to hahndorf's 2001 premiership midfield with stephens at his peak, cooper playing ridiculously good footy, raymond, brenton liebelt, ashley vears, randall pearce, grimmy when he rucked. a formidable line-up.

I'm Back !

Postby Dr.Football » Tue Aug 22, 2006 11:16 am

Don't know the deal at Lofty but i have seen an undefeated side go out in straight sets, mind you it was full of paid players who were most certainly were only there for the cash. From my readings the guys at Lofty seem happy at the club. Some interesting going ons since my last post, looks like JQ got rid of the Knobhead Silky skills. From what i have seen over the last few years,is it fair to say that we ahve perhaps the premier country competition in the state? . The top sides appear to have some extremely formidable players amongst them. Ah Sweet September !

First up, I have to say I am a massive Devils fan.

Great work by last years’ 18yo b&f runner up Sam Miles on making his League debut for Sturt last weekend. The bloke is a gun!

A couple of posts have been pretty disappointing from a Mt Lofty perspective:

1. I know for a fact that the Devils are not paying as much as other clubs for their players. Fair enough we recruited and paid some players last year that have turned out to be fantastic for our club. Those guys were so impressed by the atmosphere at Devil Park that they went out and encouraged their mates to come up and get on board. It is more about the quality of people at a club, not about how much you spend on players. Even when we were going badly, there was a good feeling and massive amount of respect among Mt Lofty players. Our group has stuck together think and thin, put up with a LOT of crap, and now with the inclusion of a few wise heads to help guide us in the right direction, the Devils are showing exactly what we knew we were capable of for a long time.

2. Hanging crap on the Dawes brothers is outrageous. Leith and Bruce have both won b&f’s, and regardless of how your club is travelling, this is a great effort. Their commitment, preparation, enthusiasm and determination is second to none and they are an inspiration to younger players. Leith and Bruce both do a massive amount around our club, and I’m sure that those who have bagged them would welcome these boys to their club with open arms. Well done to Bruce for his outstanding second half display against Uraidla resulting in him earning BOG honours in the best game of the season so far.

Credit must be given to Paul ‘Pucker’ Richards from Uri for being the only player to show some respect towards Mt Lofty while the Courier Cup was being presented on Saturday.

I think any side that makes the finals this year is capable of taking out the GF.

I don’t think the Devils will go out in straight sets. We have been down for far too long to let our opportunity slip. Too many boys have been through the crap to let that happen.

Go Devils!

Eyes on the prize!

P.S. Sloppy Skills – you are an absolute peanut. I’ve heard plenty of Pine Ave boys are hoping you don’t come back because you are like cancer!

Well said Devs advocate, couldn't agree more with it all. Well done to young Shane Maslin on a solid A Grade debut. And i hope the cabbage bloke who belted him felt tough for hitting a kid.
