Class of 2005-2006 Class of 2008-2009 and 2009-2010

After the 2005/2006 season I had great expectations for the season of 2006/2007
2005/2006 players
elliott
dietz
blewett
cosgrove
ferguson
boof
borgas
danny harris
manou
cleary
bailey
cullen
gillespie
tait
rofe

most of that squad won 4 pura cup games
most of that squad played in the ing cup [lost to nsw by 1 wicket]

there were 8 baby backs or youngies that showed a lot of talent that year
ferguson made about 700 runs
cosi had an absolute blinder of a season
borgas made 2 tons
harris finished the year off well
bailey bowled well in his first year
cullen was good as well
tait was a good fast bowler
rofe had a good year [where is he now ?]

I had thought south australia would be a terrific team in the next few years, but were not

2008/2009
we are now playing good cricket, possibly the second best f/ranger team at the moment[finished 3rd]
played 8 games in the sheffield shield for 2 wins 3 draws 3 losses [2 narrow defeats as well]

once again the baby backs and younger players are emerging or re-emerging
ferguson brilliant
cosi been brilliant late in the season
borgas doing a job and a big improver
christian now a very good allrounder in o/d games
haberfield contributing very well and a wicket taker
bailey might be back to his 2005/2006 form with 8 wickets last match
george done very well when given opportunities [could be anything]
richardson ?

considering the loss of boof/dizzy/elliott this team has done better than expected this year
we are not the easybeats anymore

will 2009/2010 be a cups year for the backs ?
fergy+ tait will play for australia, but the rest should be in the red caps

Borgas isn't rubbish. He needs to be told to play his natural game at all times and he will be a very good player at first class level.

According to the Sunday Mail, SA has put in an offer for NSW fast bowler Burt Cockley who's rated as a future test prospect.

Add Jake Habberfield to that list also. He will take alot of confidence from his last few performances and should get a full contract next year

he will be a real good pick up, but at the same time we have home grown talent such as George, Habberfield, C.Sayers. These three players i would like to see play more for S.A, but Cockley wil fit right in with the NSW second XI ;)
