Bit of news from Daly Oval, not only has Bentley gone, but it seems Howson is off to Gepps and young gun Max Clarke has gone to Broadview.

Old news Quichey :) , but all have been replaced- and honestly the replacements will prove to be more successful IMO. Bentley was the only one out of that lot who made a more than solid contribution last year.

And Howson is at Broadview, not sure about Clarke. Howson will play A grade out there if he can play consistent footy but I can't see Max Clarke playing A grade at a DIV 1/2 club until he discovers a defensive side to his game. Holds onto the ball too long and will get quickly found out at that level.

Is that the Max Clarke who played U19's for Norwood last year?

Not many would run 15 in the beep test from div 6. He could have gone harder too.

paralowie had at least half a dozen that ran over 15 tuesday night.
and no i wasnt 1 of them!

Kilburn had at least 14 than ran a 15 plus on the beep test.

West Coast Eagles: 19-year-old Mitch Brown, coming back from a knee injury, won the first pre-season beep test with a score of 15.0. Midfielder Matt Priddis also score 15.0 in the same test. (AFL.com, Oct 2008).
Brisbane Lions: Last year only four Lions recorded beep test scores of 15 or more. This year there were six, and three of the club's best runners - Luke Power, Simon Black and Joel Patfull - didn't participate. (Courier Mail, Jan 08).
Bomber Mark Johnson recorded a 15.2 beep test during the 2007 season, placing him in the elite group at Windy Hill (Herald Sun, Oct 2007).
At the 2007 Pre-Season Draft Camp, the potential top pick, ruckman Matthew Kreuzer had the 10th best beep test, reaching level 14.2. The best beep score this year was 15.2 by Cale Morton (Chris Judd got 15.1 back in 2001) (Oct 2007).
It is reported the reigning Premiers and reputedly the fittest team, the West Coast Eagles, have more than 12 players who score level 15 and above (Jan 2007).
Simon Black of the Brisbane Lions has the club record of 15.11 (from 2005)
At the AFL draft camp in 2005, Tom Rischbieth scored 15.08, beating the record of Sydney's Jarrad McVeigh 15.06 which he scored in 2002, and Sydney teammate David Spriggs 15.06 from the 1999 draft camp.

that from http://www.topendsports.com/testing/beep-scores.htm, has stats with other sports aswell. I dont see how kilburn can have 14 elite atheletes...

Yeah, wasn't sure if names had been mentioned. Probably not big losses as they weren't consistent contributors last year, however, they have the potential to be.

Oops, I put Howson off to Gepps, but what I actually meant to write was Kilburn. You sure he's gone to Broadview?

I find it very interesting with the mixed results people are getting on the beep test and considering the results that some quite elite players in different sports from the website given by bold stratergy something must be slightly incorrect somewhere. I noticed that there seem to be a couple of different versions of the test available perhaps some are easier then others. I have no idea why there would be as this will just dive different results for the same fitness level.

Well, I was going to say that just because someone is doing 15's in a beep test, it doesn't actually mean they can play footy...

This is very true...i have seen some older and more unfit players rack up a bunch of touches because they are smarter on a football field rather then working the hardest.

Is it getting done 100% properly at club level. Is it measured correctly, is the line stright, is it being monitored that the player has successfully gone over the line.

howie is def at broadview and would be one of the fittest out there. has joined a running club over preseason.
not sure how much max has been training at broadies but kno he didnt train at all for a long time. if you look at his performances against the top teams they were average but he did win games on his own boot against houghton and west croyden

Any other news from other clubs, been a bit boring of late.

Just for you Browny - Hectorville could lose up to 4 players (all 4 in their top 10) from this year's A grade. 3 training elsewhere and one might be leaving to go and do something else, but I can't really reveal what it is at this point in time. It should come out soon enough...

...when it's confirmed, you'll be the first to know! 8)

I know who your talking about there SD and honestly wouldn't be surprised if they all ended up back with the hounds by start of the season. Well the 3 training elsewhere anyway.
Only one of the three will get a regular A grade game at that level IMO, and its probably the least known out of the three. The other 2 will get found out quite quickly in that division. Good luck to them though, can't knock 'em for trying...
