Yeah that 6mill included match fees etc etc from cricket australia and 5k for each 6..... they raised over $157,000 just from donations at the gate etc by the 16,000 people in attendance.... I made a donation when i walked in and whenever i walked past the people collecting i always emptied my change into it. I saw heaps of people throwing pinapple coulered notes in all the time....

was great to see the public at the cricket constantly throwing money in.

Trouble is he probably won't be the last either.

IIRC there were quite a few after 9/11...fake collectors, fake survivors...and no doubt after other disasters too...the world is full of scumbags. I reckon his fellow inmates might have a few little chats with him...hopefully.

my mate who works at Dept of Treasury said there is a press release stating that any deduction made to a 'bucket' is claimable on your tax (without receipt) to the value of $10.00.

$47k was the total in cash at the ground through the buckets. There were many very generous people, it was 30 minutes after I started collecting that I saw any coin in the bucket I was carrying, up until then I had emptied the bucket twice of notes. A stunning effort by the crowd in attendance.

Lets not forget to donate to assist the recovery for the wildlife..... Wildlife Victoria is a good start...

of all the trauma to come out of this mess, surely the threat by Russell Crowe to have 30 Odd Ft of Grunt play at the benefit gig is the most severe of all...

60 million dollars!?

I read somewhere that after the massive tsunami a few years back, Australia made the largest donation, not per capita either but largest donation, period.
Can anyone back that up?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
