He was very heavily involved in the option of staying down a grade if you could find a club to stay up. He's still looking at ways of changing the salary cap system to something else. He is very good at canvassing for change. So I think this will just be another in a long line of "battles" he has had with the league.

Dead right and he does not have a loss all that often. Smart man and Scotch OC right through to the core. Scotch will be where Heard says they will be.

Does that mean we could have 11 teams in D3?

At THIS stage only 9 teams have nominated for Div 2 and yes 11 have nominated for Div 3. We all know that this will never happen and something will occur to make it a 10 team competition but that is the state of play at the moment Jimmy and nobody knows the answer of how to balance the Divisions out. You can bet one team will want to come up and try to play in Div 2 and just try to stay there. Clubs who believe they are on the up and up will take on the option. Someone like Golden Grove for instance I am sure would give it a crack if given a chance. What an opportunity to a club if they think they can match it. Saves a lot of years of heart ache to jump 2 or 3 grades quickly

no club should be given the option to just jump a division. The 9th placed team in div 2 from 2008 should forced to stay up (who ever that is) they are just glory hunting by nominating for D3

Yeah but can you really do that Heater?? The system in 2 up,2 down. The amateur league can't go forcing clubs to go against rules they have employed for a very long time just because another club pulled the pin.

Errr - you are the one raising it - and, considering the facts, a pretty ignorant comment. One good thing about a written discussion - you cant hide from your comment.

You obviously know Heardy really well

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day! The Seekers I reckon!

Nup....Mary Hopkins - wrong again

All in all - a pretty bad morning for you CC

Nah not really,Jim, you are correct about Mary Hopkins but I also have a Seekers CD with that song on it too!
As for a bad morning, just happened to get 4 & a supp. in lotto last night so it may have turned out okay

SHOC should stay in Div 2, cause they are going to get smashed this year in Div 1 and West Adelaide should drop out of the SANFL and play Div 1 footy... there, fixed.. :?

We've got 40 people at work putting in $21 each for a system 12 entry for this big bugger this week, cost is $800+ a splash!
Now that is just plain dumb, don't you think?

I just needed one of the sups to be 44 instead of 43 and would have collected close to $25000...... :(
Good luck sat night. I'll have my system 8 in again

Well this has been a busy topic, time I chimed in.

Firstly it's an absolute debacle that this is not settled and its February. The season is just around the corner.

I find it amazing that the amatuer league wouldn't have contigency plans for situations where clubs fold and/or change league likes the soft cocks from Edwardstown.

I have a feeling Kilburn going up would do more harm than good and clubs like SPOC and Scotch would get belted if they stuck around.

The only way you will get one of these clubs to come up and play Div 2 would be if the league provided some sort of support to that club. If we need a club to "take the leap" and go up, I think the league should offer them a 1 year reprieve from relegation so that in essence they have two seasons to solidify their position in that grade. Take that side out of the equation and the botton two teams at the end of 2009 go down. Atleast this might interest clubs who think they might not be up to it this year but the following year can build again and try and stay there. I think its a good idea but I'm sure there will be plenty of knockers.......
Harsh but fair.....

Hypothetically speaking.
If every team in division 3 declines and the league approach divsion 4 clubs and one of the clubs accept, would this mean Salisbury FC would go 'back' down to division 4 due to being the relegated club in 2008?

They won't let a div 4 team come up for that very reason. Apart from the fact they would get smashed it would be very unfair on Salisbury. If Scotch did get a div 4 team to come up and the SAAFL allowed it Scotch should have to go to div 4.

I can't believe I am saying this "Well spoken Boozehound." That suggestion of a years amnesty from relegation is an extremely sensible solution.
Just nobody is a person pertaining to be in the know when he knows diddly. Blackcat is right in that the Amateur league HAVE NOT contacted Clubs (in our case Kilburn) re A2. IF it eventuates we would obviously look at it but we have recruited for A3 not A2 and there is a big difference.
Just nobody until you have the balls to nominate an affiliation with a Club and be accountable stop trying to be the know all smart arse you are trying to be. That doubles for Hamstring as well, maybe he should go back to selling his raffle tickets or become a boundary umpire (heaven forbid for the opposition sides) again.
FYI Phil Martin is no longer on the KFCC board , he has retired due to building a new home over on the Peninsular.

I don't mind the idea either, the only negative I can see is that it may be setting a dangerous precedent. Will or could the idea be used by clubs to gain an extra advantage?
NW, I am unclear on the comment, "we've recruited for Div 3, not Div 2". Most clubs would get who is available surely irrespective of what Div they're in or is it a decision based on financial constraints?

Nearly Was, any reason why you have the same propensity to highlight in bold when posting in the same way another poster does. Must be something in the water. Back the post at hand. Boozehound has offered the most reasonable tool in any negotiation though other clubs would still have to agree and I bet the other 9 clubs in Div 4 wouldn't because that's one less promotion in 2010 and the more I think about it it's one less promotion in every grade

Amnesty from relegation is a ridiculous idea! Sorry boozehound, you'll have to dive back into your deep bag of resourcefulness and come up with a better idea.

I can see the team that finishes 8th being really happy to go down a division just to keep a team that doesn't deserve to be there in div 2. It would require being unfair to a team that has earnt their spot and for what benifit? The sensible solution is the current one, a div 3 team can go up if it chooses, otherwise Scotch stay put. Don't bring any other clubs into this silly situation, not of their making.
