A decision will be made this arvo. Will be after 4pm so not long. Waiting for the next forecast from the BOM i guess. I'd suggest it will be another week off for B1 down.

The Emergency Committee of ATCA advises the following in regard to play on Saturday 7 February and Sunday 8 February 2009.

Play will proceed in A1 to A3 matches as per the bylaws of the ATCA.

Play in B1 to C3 is cancelled due to the prolonged spate of hot weather. Similarly play in all LO competitions (LOA to LOE) is also cancelled.

Please note the ATCA junior competition will proceed as scheduled on Sunday 8 February (day 1 of a scheduled 2 day round) as the weather forecast predicts much more pleasant conditions will prevail. Importantly the application of the ATCA heat policy for junior players who would normally represent their clubs in senior competition applies therefore players who are under 17 years of age at 1 September of the current season are not to be selected for Saturdays fixtures.

Thank you again for your understanding.

The ATCA had their hands tied here. They have a policy in place and as a result they don't have the flexibility to arrange things the way the SACA has done. What the SACA has done makes sense and will allow cricket to go ahead but with the Turf should they go ahead and allow games to be played against their policy it opens up a can of worms should a player fall ill. Once you introduce a policy like the ATCA has done it must stick to it to the letter or they just open themselves up to all sorts of legal problems should something happen.

Explain this one...
ATCA excluded all junior cricketers from senior selection this game as per junior policy 38 degree rule.
Given that ATCA heat policy basically falls back to SACA policy, tell me why a number of juniors were able to paly Senior SACA cricket on Saturday..
Makes no sense to me...??????????
