Shrek your kidding arn't you.. The BLG comp would smash the APFL AND THE YPFL NEFL.. hands down. Not even an arguement. People need to think about what they say before they say it one thinks!!!!! Also i think you will find the barossa had 15 players in the zone side which is made up of the other leagues minus the YPFL. There is alot of talent running around in the BLG..

Think you will find BLG had 11 in the zone side and the RFL had 8 with a few Mallee and one Broken Hill lad in there. Just because Tanunda go and blow $100k in a year does not make the league stronger than the rest. It just means the Barossa has a higher concentration of money hungry footy sluts.

Shreky, you're in dreamland mate!
If Tanunda, Freeling, Barossa District, etc. spend big dollars on players, OF COURSE it makes the league stronger! Footy sluts or not (and I don't think many are) they are obviously very good players!
Even without the moolah, it would still be a stronger league than most others, cos the population base in the Gawler/Barossa region gives depth to clubs. You mentioned Hills - beat them the last two seasons, and Western Border - probably the only other league to spend more on players than the BLG!

An absolute load of BS in those statements, I can tell you Tanunda spent nowhere near that amount, I'm sure it is total sour grapes (cooked grapes at the moment) on your behalf that Tanunda was successful last season with only 3 imports. As for the strength of the League it is extremely strong and would one of the best in the state and don't forget other leagues also throw big money (YPFL, WBFL), if the Hills was stronger they would have beaten us in the interleague game. The only that is probably stronger is the GSFL.

Shrek i don't need to say anymore you clearly haven't got any idea on what your saying.. If the Barossa played the APFL in Rep footy the past couple of years the score would be that one sided they may aswell not have played. In fact that would go for most comps!!!! The barossa league is ill say it again alot stronger than YOU think..

Plenty of crap players being payed big coin out in the Barossa. It doesn't make the league stronger anyway, just certain clubs. 3rd place this year was an also ran. 4th place in the few years before was an also ran too.

Hills also won the last 5 or so association matches before that and you are joking if you think the last two meant anything. Didn't the Hills league field and U23 Hills Country side? It looked like it. It wasn't a proper Hills side by any stretch.

Meanwhile back at the ranch ! What are everybodys top 4 predictions, now we have reached Feb ! I'll start things off.

1. Tanunda - Feb. champions and probably September well. Fair bit of stability there. The X factor there is going to be, are they as motivated subconsciously now that the Centenary is out of the way??

2. G. Centrals - as long as they can get all their egos in the same direction.

3. South- as long as they dont believe this stuff too much and get ahead of themselves !

4. Barossa - the boys out at mudpack park will still be around the mark, but not the force they were. Too many significant outs. Their main challengers for 4th spot will be a steadily building young Nuri side and a very capable Angaston, if Bascombe the Barometer can keep his Hammies and groin in one piece !

Speaking of centenary year I noticed that The Riverland are doing some interesting things over there. They are playing an Independent team (smaller comp like the APFL) against a combined B grade team. They are also have a North V South of the River challenge match for the A grade.. Just a one off.

How would we go doing something like that here ?

Maybe B's combined against APFL and Barossa/ Kapunda v Gawler sides and Freeling ?

What do you think?

Just do a Gawler Vs Barossa.
Freeling and Kapunda can go along and watch, or play a scratchie of their own.

Nice little dig there drifter. Just because half of Willaston's jilted B grade gets a game at Hamley does not mean the APFL is weak, Hamley are just terrible.

1. ZERO crap players being paid BIG coin in the BLG
2. 3rd and 4th in the BL&G would STILL be better than 3rd and 4th in other leagues
3. No, the Hills didn't field an u/23 side in 2008, and let me tell you, after the walloping they got in 2007, it meant EVERYTHING to them

Roodog, they got belted in 2007 because no-one cares about rep footy in the Hills. It's left up to kids and Country div players. I remember speaking to D Thomas after he kicked a bag in the association match. I said "you must have gone alright then", his response "nah, I think I was playing on a 16 year old, it wasn't a serious team".

Shrek,
I've been involved in half a dozen leagues in the state, and I'd have to say the depth is greater here. The B grade footy is generally of a better standard than most leagues, and your top 30 A grade players here would match it with most leagues. Would have to be top 3. Are you seriously trying to tell us that A1 and 2 amteurs doesnt have its fair share of footy sluts. I'm sure we could name a few. FGH - I wasnt having a dig at Hamley about the B grade thing, no offence there.
Shrekkie - Bascombe is back in the Barossa, just about to start Vintage work, just went to Streaky for a break over Dec- Jan

1. Tanunda - still the strongest list
2. Gawler Cent - replace barossa at the altar
3. Willaston - young list but should be as effective as any other
4. Nuri - have momentum from last year & a few ins
The writing is on the wall - learn to read and you might survive
