Richie was assistant coach of my junior teams coming from under 13 or 14. Legend of a bloke and i used to watch him play when i was young.... havent seen him up the club lately but popped in for a few games here and there last year.
pretty sure andy played at hamely bridge too???
Apologies, I didn't know that.
I had a feeling that Kilburn were in the mix somewhere at some stage with either footy or cricket for them, maybe wrong!

(quote Iron Fist) andy easily the best ib both footy and cricket, then justin and shane stragling behind

I guess if the word is that Justin has gone from a coach in 08 to a B grader in 09, is that representative of the Hills Country division or the ability of him as a player

Both Horvarth Brothers were skilled and volatile footballers. Richie was Norwood Junior in the Mid 80s, before playing a season or two at Kersbrook, then forging a career at Modbury FC. Stef was the better and older of the two, playing footy at North Adelaide when a certain Big Footballer was keeping him regularly out of the League team. He then played a number of seasons at Kersbrook, winning a Mail Medal and two flags in 86 and 93 (Won Norm Smith too) before injuries forced him into retirement after the 94 season. If Kersbrook had a 'Best Ever' team selected, Stef Horvath would be a walk up starter.

Um wouldn't class it as a representative of Hills Country considering Gumeracha won 2 games for the year, and lost by over 30 goals against all the Top 5 sides.

Wouldnt suprise. The club with no money and no resources or so they preach always tend to get a lot of quality players who of course "ALL PLAY FOR THE LOVE OF THE JUMPER AND THE CLUB" mmmmm - Spencer, Klemm, King (new from South Adelaide), Demasi, Mills, Webb, Bartel, Illman, Kells, Earl, Kendrick Tyrell (upon his return from Norwood). Gee they all play for nothing. We have heard that spin put on Goodwood for years and really who believes it. The Tooth Fairy and Father Christmas. Strong love of the jumper at Goodwood and no payments to anyone - yeh sure

Yes they are and that sh*t has been oozing out of that club for many years.
They all play for not much money but lots of love!!! Oh maybe it's creative accounting 'cause the place is full of them by all reports.

Absolutely correct Aceman. You nailed it on the head. People might slag off at the Salisbury North and Gepps Cross clubs for
the excessive payments or supposed excessive payments, but Goodwood seem to just fly under the radar when it is all discussed.
The whole salary cap thing is a joke anyway as every club has "creative accountants" when it comes to paying players. The League
have to get their heads out of the sand and understand that clubs will spend whatever they want and so they should.

The only part of this I am amused about is how the good old lads at Goodwood seem never to be brought up when Salary Caps are mentioned. Henely are only a dollar or two behind as well and they also seem to fly under that radar that other clubs like Sal Nth and Gepps X seemingly have to wear

Recruits look great, have got Luke Cowan out with us, not sure when his wife transfers to Qld with work but will be handy if he stays. A mate of Simon Cox from country Vict trained last night, a huge bloke about 6'8" that looks okay, needs some fitness work but is a mountain.
Hoping a couple that are currently at League clubs return, I think we'll be okay.

He would tell you that he did but by now I think the Gepps people know differently, Play on!
Now that is just plain dumb, don't you think?

Both played underage football at Gepps Cross. How many of the above mentioned Goodwood players are Goodwood juniors?

You are all missing the point. The big rumour mill always comes out about what Gepps or Sals Nth are paying their players. Good on them if they can afford it, but clubs like Goodwood with a team of Superstars are getting paid a fortune and nobody even mentions them. It just astounds me how the other two clubs (Gepps and Salisbury Nth) are always had a go at while Goodwood escape under the radar all the bloody time. it is so frustrating. The same is now happening with Henley. "Poor Goodwood and poor Henley, we dont pay a thing" - that is absolute crap. If you believe that well you are still in love with Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny.

Read more carefully and you would have understood the points I was making more clearly. Has it registered now???
The violins are playing for Goodwood and Henley as they certainly only have players who play for the love of the jumper - Yeh right
Nobody ever said Heuskes or Smith never were well paid, but you Goody and Henley people make me sick with the Holy than now attitude of "we never pay anyone - they only play with the mates" What a crock of crap

im not associated with goody or henley or any div 1 club now
how do you know these 2 clubs pay there players a fortune? i know henley and goody clubs dont have pokies so the cash to play players surely wouldnt be as high as pokie clubs such as geppx and salis nth
how long did heuskes play at gepps for? i know at henley, i hear ex league players playing for a year or two then they go chasing more money elsewhere, they dont seem to go chase money elsewhere at goody as most of the players you mentioned seem to have been at club for quite a number of years, im sure they have been chased by other clubs for astronomous amounts of money
