JMac is a huge in for the devs. His disposal and creativity will complement the hard nut mid-fielders already at Lofty (Burch, Peterson-Grey, Mehta). Whilst his inclusion does not fill the gap left by Cuttso's departure (two very different sorts of player, and Cutts' value to the side was as much his leadership on and off he field as it was his performance), it does give the devils midfield a different dimension. JMac will love sitting under Billy Bawden's arm!

Been speaking with some roos officials and they tell me J-Mac has already signed with the goats and only because of the money, dollar wise I'm not sure but would have to be a couple per game at least. I still don't think this is the end of this though.

Hard nut mid-fielders....Burch - yes definitely. The others I'm not so sure. From an outsiders point of view I'd rate Burch as the best bloke to lead the Devils. Epitomises a captain, skills, tough and a leader. Obviously other internal issues determine the skipper, but Burch and Bawden are the two who have most hurt IB in recent years.

So who can take it to Mt Lofty this season? Hahndorf will be interesting to see (tho I'd still like to see an estimate of their points). As for the rest, looks like it will take a big effort.

well the roos officials that you have been talking to probably shouldve got his signature earlier on before other clubs had the chance to try and get him... as far as i am aware no "roos official" have even approached him to sign a new contract for this year....

True GTP shouldve been taken care of. However, Jmac played plenty of footy for barker & as far as im aware has been looked after fairly well - there must be another issue? Interesting to see how it all pans out. Does raise the issue of club loyality especially when jumping over to a rival HFL club.

Yes, but I'm not sure 'running' is the appropriate terminology

Speaking with a pretty prominent Mount Barker player at a Barbie yesterday and i brought this discussion about Macca up with him. He was adamant that macdonald would be a roo this year. So does anyone actually have confirmation of his signing with the devs?

Does anyone know of others that Mt Barker have lost apart from Macdonald? Any recruits for the Roos?

Seem to remember McDonald was talking about playing elsewhere last year but in the end relented and played with the Barkeroos. Perhaps he is testing the water again!

I'm sure I read that Micahel Lancaster was off to Bridgewater - not confirmed though.

How does this raise the issue of club loyalty..... he has after all played over 100 A grade games for the roos, even when he has been living in town for the past 5 years. thats pretty loyal to a club in this day and age and only at age 25...... He has probably had many offers from other clubs (and more money) in that time but has stayed at the roos.

I guess it's a disappointing sign of the times if people think 100 games means you are loyal to a club and you get paid for it.

I don't think the Kim Pearces, Chris Sheeans or Brian Morgans would agree, nor would I.

Agreed AF. McDonald wouldn't be considered loyal at Kersbrook which has produced more 300 game players than any other Hills Club. Kym Pearce, John MacDonald, Trevor MacDonald, Bevan Crook, Marty Wildman, Neville James, Adrian James, Andrew Bettison, Ash MacDonald, Jason Levett all over the 300 barrier.
