Unfortunately The yetti did not play for Mclaren Vale, or McLaren Flat and by the time McLaren was formed he pretty much was on the GOPHER most of the time.
The yetti chose to play at Willunga in their premiership inaugural year of the GSFL in 1986, because he did not want to play DIV 2 footy.

The decision to join the GSFL was one of the best decisions made by the club.
McLaren Flat and McLaren Vale are COUNTRY TOWNS and we wanted to play in a country league.
There was no possible way small country towns can compete with the Outer suburbs of Reynella, Morphett Vale and Christies Beach and the inner suburbs of Brighton, Marion
In 1995 when our juniors started we only had 19 players in our U/14 side... Steve Jaggard Coach
That whole team went to U/16 the next year
And we then had 20 in the U/16 (1 recruit...Raji who was a real card)
and 21 in U14.
Morpett Vale, Hackham and Port Noarlunga had at least 60 U 14 players compared to Us, Kangy and Meadows
in 1995 Our juniors played against Meadows, Kangarilla, Aldinga, Cove...just a five team comp
In 1996 Morphett Vale, Hackham and Port Noarlunga (possibly Reynella) then entered their second sides into div 2....A bad decision in hindsight

It is interesting to note that both Kangarilla and Meadows had the same issues as McLaren Districts...small towns with limited numbers have also gone to country leagues...also good decisions.

I must say 17 of our final 21 in A grade for 2007 are juniors from our club.
We are financially sound and sustainable
Pretty well run a good club to be a part of

Great club to be a part of TY.

Whatever the reason to join the GSFL I for one am glad it was made.
The GSFL is a great comp to be part of and I love the 'country' feel of it.

I think with money flying around as it does these days that we have done well to hold onto those juniors that are now seniors, I hope the trend stays that way.

And I did hear, that as a family club, you didn't want to play against the feral clubs - Hackham, O'Sullivan Beach & Lonsdale.

A bit out of line there Pigs Fly
And very much incorrect. To use that adjective to describe a club, my friend, is pretty darned ordinary.

what the hell are you talking about ferals pigs fly. how can you justify that statement?? maybe a few years ago with the wrong people involved in the club it got out of hand but our current president who mind you wants to see nothing more than the club to be a respected club for raising juniors through the ranks and becoming a competitive team in the next few years. he has been one of the best things that could have happened to the hawks. we are a very family orientated club now with quite a few families with more than one child playing. Myself included.
Sorry to take over your thread AM and TY but voicing our opinion. i am getting real good and it now as there are a lot of hackham bashers out there.

pigs fly playing clubs in the sfl had nothing to do with it, the fact was an opportunity came up for us to play in a 10 team comp instead of a 6 or 7 team comp as eagleman has posted previously we lost the 2000 gf to kangarilla they did want to go up to div 1 and the league would not let us go up, there was only 1 person at the meeting who voted to stay in southern out of probably 100 or so, the fact is we have always wanted to play better footy and improve our selves, as a club we could not see this happening in div 2 so it was an easy decision really but one that had to be made there and then as there were other clubs also trying to get the one spot vacated, if the sfl had amalgamated the div 1 and div 2 earlier who knows we may have still been playing sfl, in my opinion it has been one of the best decisions the club has made as the gsfl is the perfect comp, 10 team, 9 games home, 9 games away, doesnt get much fairer than that
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

TY I'm only going by what some of your people told me at the time. By the way I do think that you made the right decision.

hh I was talking of the attitudes of people at the time. But don't think that you have cleaned up your name just yet.

i'm gunna come in to bat for HH here.

as a bloke from a rival club, i admit, there is no one out there i love to beat more than Hackham (maybe coz for a while there, they were the only ones we could beat!). and yeah, on the field they can be (but show me a club that dosnt have a few of these guys) a bit aggresive, but thats what hapens when you play with the passion and pride in the jumper you wear. hell, i've done a few regrettable things on the field, and i'm sure a lot of people have.

but off the field, there isnt an opposition club i would rather hang around for a couple hours after the final siren, having a beer and a yarn with the 21 blokes i just tried my hardest to humiliate and hospitalise!

Hi TBB :)

I'm sure you can squeeze us in there somewhere :D
Would be great to have your support O:)

I personally haven't seen anything 'official' yet. Nothing on the GSFL website yet either.
There was a rough draft getting around but don't know if that's been set in stone yet.

Will keep you posted, unless someone else has an official programme they can post up now.
