Great bloke to match.

Played some trials against EB last year and he was one of like three players to hang around and socialise with the visiting side and pretty much led the way.

Ian Westbrook (Father of David who played SANFL at W/WT) took on Arthurton in 1980 (5th), 81 (4th) 82 (Flag over arch enemy Maitland), then Wallaroo 1983 (flag), 84 (3rd), Paskeville 85 (Flag), 86 (Drawn GF lost Replay to Arthurton)....then back to Arthurton 1988 (Flag) got the sack....then Bute in 1991 (Flag), 92 (Lost GF), 93 (won Flag when 6 goals down in pouring rain)

Not bad ....... 11 years, 4 clubs, 6 Flags....he won a Mail Medal or was runner up and played some SANFL at Woodville

I played under him in 1988 and he was hard on a young 17 year old half back flanker..........but was a great tactician and appreciated everyone that thought about the game and the opposition. The 1988 flag was a fluke really, we didn't have a brilliant side, but we worked hard and came from 5 goals down at 1/2 time to win by a point when we had no right to do so

I reckon you're on the money Loz,he was a great coach and an even better bloke. He could play a bit too!

Notts is playing the Yellow Cabs social club match once a season these days. Last year he kicked 4 and picked up a fare back to Gawler , 2 drops.

Not sure of his coaching credentials but i do know that when he coached Ramblers in the RMFL during a final he dragged Trevor Wingard just before half time after he had kicked 6 goals and never gave him a reason for it. Is that a good coach or what? Tailem came from 10 goals down at half time and got up and won by 4 points i think.

I was at that match - it was at the showgrounds and your facts are well short of truth. If Trevor had his time again I think he may have responded quite differently to being interchanged (hopefully he may have matured a bit more by now) Storming off and then not taking any further part in the match because the coach doesn't give you a reason to me says more about the player than the coach. It is after all a team game. 6 goals ??? He wouldn't even have had 6 touches at that point! And the truth is Ramblers did lose narrowly, but they never had the sort of lead you alluded to. I recall it being less than 3 goals and not having Wingard in the final quarter (because he had spat the dummy and left) probably cost them the match.

One thing you haven't disputed is Wingards inexcusable behaviour - that is what sticks out clearly in my mind and is remembered clearly by all Rambler people. Cybulka's coaching record speaks for itself - 9 GFs in a row with Ramblers for 5 Premierships and a couple as playing coach at Tailem. He was a handy player as well - a lazy 7 mail medals
