Very handy pick ups if this was the case - Geradis kicked 60 odd last year in a mid strength team and Johnstone came 3rd in the B & F...

I can confirm that Anthony Johnson has signed with Virginia for 09 and will stick to it. He signed this time last year at Virginia also but pulled the pin last minute. That will make all 3 brothers out there now and certainly some exciting footy will b displayed by the trio. Exactly wat Virginia need.

I spoke to Anthony about a month ago and he said he was staying at south gawler. Not that that really means anything, and the other 2 brothers said they didn't know where they are playing but shaun said he definately wont be at virginia.

the jury is still out on whether they will see the year out, but any hoo let's hope we have a cracker season and the Roosters get the buttered confection!

From what I've heard, Gerardisa is also a definite at Virginia this year.

SD, I'm talking about a guy who played in the country last year, in a league not very far away from the Adelaide Plains.

it is Tommy Guerin played a season for Kadina - topped the goalkicking for the club with 50 odd - about 4th or so in the league i think
Stavros may be around the mark.

Have heard that Shane Broad has signed with South Gawler for 2009 in a deal that involes a house for him to stay in at Gawler. I'm not saying its 100% but a pretty strong rumour. Can anyone confirm?

The onballer has recently moved to Freeling to live and agreed strongly with a handshake with every member of Freelings entire committee that he would play for his home town. However he burnt them badly and went off chasing more money and has ended up at United. Apparently he did a similar thing last season, burning his home club at Willaston to chase a bit more coin up at Gumeracha. Sounds like another loyal aquisition for the Tigers in 2009.

Sounds like he will fit in perfect at tiger land.

would think that hamley & virginia would be the 2 teams in the APFL that cant retain players
most other clubs keep import players until nearly retirement.

also if the rumour is true it will be interesting to see how the swap of Graham (to gums) with Mills will compare!
think i could guess which one is costing more!!!

Long Plains don't seem to be doing so well keeping imports until retirement! Fair few gone this year.

Oh my goodness, it's only January 13th and so far he's got 4 clubs. Now that's even a better effort than the infamous Marc Cox.
Maybe they are trying to outdo each other!

yeh must say considering it`s only about 6-8 weeks until most clubs start trial games it is very quiet on the new player front.... all clubs keeping it close to their chest this year...or are there few new players coming to the APFL?

OK, lets get the ball rolling on each club's update:

Mallala kicks off training first week of Febuary. Will be similar to last year, looking forward to seeing a fully fit Brad Griff and Jon Clarke back as permanent starters in the A's. I believe Moffatt has signed elsewhere which is a huge loss for the magpies, would be great to see him stay. Other than that the list should be pretty similar with some good yound blood pushing for A grade games including James Barr, Johnno Wildbore among others.

Coaches are the same, but hopefully the result is slightly different in 2009!!

Broady will be at United, thats my tip!! If nothing else, for the thrill of playing and training under the command of newly appointed super coach Michael "Sheeds" Trussell.

I heard Broady isn't playing footy at all this year. I think he's purchased a small sheep farm in the Upper South East.

Broady has actually just bought a cattle feedlot as droppie suggests in the upper South East. Look for him to pull on a Crows guernsey at Keith is the rumour I've been hearing.

Eagles start this Wed nite, 35 degrees, should be a corker! I dont think we've filled our imports (two of three that we're allowed, I think) so if you want a run Swamp there's a free spot up for grabs, can pay you in fresh fish :D
