How bad would it be for a Woodville or WT fan if the Eagles merged again with another SANFL club. Talk about confused loyalties.

Personally, as an O/S poster my interest in the SANFL would probably wain. I couldn't see myself following any other club and I don't think I would have any alliegance to the newly formed club.

I follow the SANFL because I follow North, and I follow North because I followed them when I lived there. I am not sure I could see myself getting up at 5:00am to listen to game that doen't involve North.

Of course, I might feel different if North did merge with another club, as long as it wasn't Port, Sturt, Centrals or Glenelg. Didn't North "merge" with Norwood for a spell during WWII.

I'd cope reasonably comfortably if Norwood merged with say North or Sturt [or Melbourne].
I'd only struggle if they merged with Port Adelaide, but I don't think there is much risk of that...
And, yes, there was a combined North-Norwood team during WWII.

I never felt anything Woodville was kept in that merger. Torrens became the dominant club, it was perdominantly blue and gold and kept the Eagles emblem, Woodville just had Oval Avenue as its contribution.

I'm sure others would disagree, but its an emotional feeling, to me Torrens is the team in the league, Woodville is gone.

That's the problem with mergers, often one team dominates the other and you don't really get a fair almalgamation of the two clubs. A better name for the club would of been the Woodville Eagles or West Torrens Warriors.

You have fair 50-50 split on the name there... no one uses WWT, because no one wants to blurt out such a long name, so Eagles this, Eagles that.

Just my thoughts...

I'm with you. Didn't have a balance of green and gold in the more recent guernsey. Crikey, could have even worn dark green shorts to kep the mix.

If Centrals ever merged I'd leave the SANFL as a supporter. For me I am hypicritical on the topic, however - in 1997 I took up a non Queensland membership of the Brisbane Lions, a merged identity (didn't join them because of the merger with Fitzroy, but I detest the two Adelaide based clubs).

If North merged I'd sulk for a few months, then most likley get over it and support the new merged team. Not sure my heart would be into it as much though.

This is what gets my goat non WWT fans complaining about our jumper. We wear a Blue one all we hear is complaints we wear a mainly yellow and everyone complains. And in my mind those 2 twits on AA hated the yellow jumper more than any one else.

We wear a jumper with a lot of green in it hello we STILL HEARD COMPLAINTS LAST YEAR .SO WE CANT WEAR A MAINLY BLUE or YELLOW OR GREEN JUMPER!!!!

Personally I thought their best one was the first one, the one that had equal amount of blue and green with the yellow line and eagle in the middle. I thought it made sense and was their best looking guernsey. I even bought one.
It all went pear shaped after that.

People might say that they wouldent support the new side, yet I do wonder if the new side then won the premiership if that might change or not! :?

Wedgie the yellow line was across the chest, it was mostly a blue guernsey. Combined with blue shorts they looked like WT from the back.

The green seemed to me to be a token effort that didn't look very good

The current design is my favourite with the 93 premiership strip a close second

As a westies supporter, i would not be happy if we merged with Port, Sturt, North or Centrals (even tho that might mean we would a game). If we merged with South and played there i would not be happy! WWT glenelg and Norwood would be the best clubs to merger IMO from a westies view.
However saying this even if we merged with Port (god forbid dont let it happen) i would still follow them entirely because the fact is there history still lies with the bloods and i am a bloods supporter, and therefore follow them wherever we go, or whoever we go with!!
But i would hope they would stay at richmond because it is only a two minute walk atbest!
