5 Bands Pt 2

Postby Punk Rooster » Sat Jan 10, 2009 6:43 am

List your 5 favourites bands that you have seen live- this can be either your favourite experience, or just the fact that you saw a favourite band at all.

1. Suffocation ('07)- awesome show/experience/band- everything i hoped for, no disppointment, met Mike Smith
2. Morbid Angel ('93)- as above, met Dave Vincent
3. Abramelin/Cradle of Filth ('01)- Abramelin wiped the stage with CoF. Awesome that I saw such a strong performance from Abramelin, but also saw CoF for the first (only) time (so far).
4. Cannibal Corpse ('95)- really tight show- met whole band.
5. The Mess Hall (Fowler's Live- King Daddy CD launch)- just an amazing set/experience (they had their original drummer- Bill-Bob Thornton look-alike). You could see the crowd grow/get more intense with each song- they ended up winning the entire crowd over.

1. Rage Against the Machine at Melbourne's Festival Hall 2008 - Phenomenal gig just played hit after hit and it was like a sauna in there
2. Black Keys 05 at the Gov- The two piece from Akron ohio just blew me away
3. The White Stripes - 05 Jack White was on fire at Thebby
4. Red hot Chilli Peppers 06 Earls Court London - A smashing set that went on for around 2.5 hours, flea was going nuts!
5. Shihad 04 or 05 in Adelaide unibar - 500 people just going mental with john toogood firing up the crowd with his antics!

Hmm....a tricky one as I don't necessarily like some of these bands much anymore but they were pivotal gigs for me at the time:

INXS at the Apollo, my first gig in 85 I think. Amazing adrenaline rush, my cousin who took me actually fainted.
Midnight Oil at the Apollo a year or so later on the Diesel & Dust tour.
U2 at Memorial drive, Lovetown tour. Perfect couple of shows to cap of my graduation year perfectly.
Mandelbrot Set at the Austral or any time they played - in the early 90s, fresh out of high school and discovering the joys of 'indie' music for the first time, they were life changing for me.
Built to Spill last year in Richmond - a religious experience for sure.

Biggest regret - not seeing REM with the GoBetweens at the Thebby in 89. :(

You're right, thought it was deja vu, though I did change my mind somewhat

Been to so many great gigs over the years but here we go: -
1. Slipknot supported by Machine Head at Wayville Showgrounds late last year. Incredible. Saw them at BDO and The palace in 05 as well but last years show was just amazing.
2. Fear Factory live at the Palace in Melbourne 2006 supported by Dry Kill Logic & Devildriver. Best all round gig I've ever been to. Saw them at Heaven in 05 as well supported by Static X. Another great gig.
3. Slayer at Thebby last year. Brutal!
4. Machine Head headlining the Black Crusade at Thebby last year.
5. Rage Against The Machine at the BDO last year.
Karnivool, Hatebreed & Napalm Death at Fowlers, Soilwork at the Lizard Lounge, Sebastian Bach at Heaven all very good gigs too.

Must have been a long ******* show playing that same song all night long but with a Punk audience you'd could get away with it.
