Did they invent electricity? I didn't know that.

Good point. But just to be factual, since electricy was harnessed, South have 11 premierships and Glenelg have 4. Is that the lowest amount of the SANFL clubs or do we give it to the PAMFC with 2??.

Danny Del Ray moved back to Melbourne long before South's moved to Noarlunga. Back to the subject at hand, I can't remember any player kicking a bag down there.

I think Damien Cupido got 11 against Sturt in 2006.

Has anyone kicked a decent bag of goals on that wind hole?

I reckon Scott Hodges managed to bag 10 in a single match there, many moons ago. Spelly?

I just had a quick glance at some old notes I kept... Hodges snagged 11.3 at Noarlunga in April 1996.

IIRC he kicked 7 in the first quarter that day.

the following player signings for the 2009 season:

2009 SAFC Recruits as at January 16, 2008

Mark Bradley (formerly South Adelaide, Ruck/Forward). The Chief returns to South after several years in Victoria where he played for Casey Scorpions and Noble Park. Versatile he can play ruck or hold down a key position at either end of the ground.

Adam Cockshell (Port Power/Norwood) Centre Half-forward. South Adelaide has recruited Adam with the expressed desire of holding down centre-half forward. An Athletic 198cm, the 22-year old can play back and pinch hit in the ruck, however it is as a forward target the Panthers feel he can make the most impact.

Simon Dean (Noarlunga/West Adelaide), Midfield/Fwd. A talented junior player Simon has spent the last couple of seasons at Noarlunga. Still only 21, the extremely fit and skillful midfielder is keen for another crack at the SANFL.

Michael Gugliotta (NT Thunder U18s/Nightcliff) Key Forward/Defender. Talented 195cm key position prospect that can hold down key forward, defensive spots or use his athleticism on a wing. Considered extremely unlucky not to be on an AFL list in 2009, Michael is a graduate of the AFL/AIS program. Good in the air Michael is an exciting talent for the Panthers.

Jak Kennedy-Hunt (Werribee VFL/Geelong Falcons) Half Forward/Half Back. A high-marking forward or defender Jak’s last two seasons have been impacted by injury and illness. Still only 20, South have Jak earmarked for a lead-up forward role who is sure to enjoy the wide open spaces of Hickinbotham Oval.

Nathan Lyons (Williamstown VFL/Western Jets) Midfield. A pacy midfielder Nathan did the 2008 pre-season with Melbourne but missed out on a rookie spot. At 20 years old he made his debut in the strong Williamstown line-up during the year, where his ball winning ability and defensive pressure were a highlight.

Nick McKenna (Burnie Dockers) Key Defender. Very talented 192cm key defender, who has been on the radar of several AFL clubs over the past two seasons. A gifted athlete Nick recently missed out on a national qualifying time for swimming and also competes in 400m and 800m running events. Nick represented the Northern Tasmanian FL and the Australian Amateur team on their tour of Ireland in 2008.

Lee Schmidt (Corowa-Rutherglen) Forward/Midfield. The 22 year old from country Victoria made the All-Australian Country team after the national championship this year. It was the second year in a row Lee had represented the VCFL. A clever small forward he kicked over 70 goals in the strong Ovens & Murray League in 2008.

SANFL Mini-draft selections:

Shaun McKernan (Adelaide Crows/Calder Cannons) Ruck/Key position. Taken at pick 2 in the SANFL mini-draft the 195cm versatile key position prospect is a real positive for South for 2009. Shaun has the ability to step straight into SANFL and have an immediate impact.

Jordan Johns (Port Power/ NSW/ACT Rams) Midfielder. Taken with the club’s second pick in the SANFL Minidraft the NSW Scholarship listed midfielder played for the Rams in the national championships in 2008 as a bottom-aged player. He won’t be available to South Adelaide until after the national championship in 2009.

Cockshell and Bradley will be very good players for us this season, and I will be watching the coming trial matches with great interest to see how the new young recruits look.
It sounds like the club has picked some good youngsters, lets hope they can have an impact this coming season!! :)

Oh topsy, Ive seen enough of Cockshell to believe he will do well for the panthers! :D
I think our forward line with Warren,Cockshell Turner and Mckernan will do quite well. Throw in Parry when resting forward or even Bradley. Bring on the 2009 ;)

You have to forgive us Norwood supporters (and Power supporters for that matter) for a little bitterness towards Cockshell. Yes, he has some ability, and yes he had a handful of good matches for Norwood, but he played too many poor games for a player of his ability. Also, his attitude was pathetic.

If he were suddenly able to stumble across a desire to succeed and to be as good a player as he can possibly be, then you've got yourself a good recruit. If he continues with the same attitude, you've got yourself one very frustrating recruit.

From a South point of view, let's hope he isn't late for, or misses too many training sessions for unacceptable reasons.

I'd be interested into why Bradley went from a State league (Scorpions) to a suburban competition (Noble Park), did he find it to hard at the Scorpions, did he chase money??

At least by coming to South he is testing himself out more so hopefully for South he is willing to contribute in a positive manner.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Tassie, Mark Bradley had last year off footy and went to Noble Park to play with his brother and to win a premiership with him which didn't happen. Felt he had plenty to offer footy and enjoyed both SANFL comp and South and we welcome him back. If Cockshell attitude is good we have recruited a fine player who still has AFL potential and the club is very supportive the rest is up to him.

To be honest I do not know much of the character of Cockshell, but I do know he had a couple of issues at Port Adelaide.
I know Clay will not tolerate anything but 100% commitment so one would think Adam will pull his wieght, and if he does he will be a good recruit.
As for Bradley,he had a couple of good seasons with the panthers a few years ago before going back to Victoria.
He is no spring chicken at 29 years of age,but he has looked the goods at training, and we really needed some mobile talls to complement Parry.
In a matter of weeks we will find out how all the recruits for our respective clubs are faring.
We seem to have added some depth to our list,as does a few other clubs particularly Westies,Norwood and North.
Only a few weeks until the trial matches!!

Didn't Hargs kick a big bag down there 13 or so straight if memory serves? I reckon he kicked at least half while being stood by the Sarg thus the realisation Perrie should play up forward or at least look like it
