Well this weekend of football has thrown up some interest in the final five in Central Division. All of a sudden Mt Barker is under the pump which would not please the Inspector but leaves the door open for both Hahndorf and Lobethal to make up the five and slightly ajar for Blackwood still.
Thunderers not quite good enough on the day leading to mid way through the last quarter but experience told in the long run. Well all the talk about the stacked B Grade did not help as they lost as well. Perhaps a Sodomka or Bretag in the A Grade may have made a difference but my thoughts fall on deaf ears and the club seems resigned to winning the Wooden Spoon.
Some interesting letters to the Editor in this weeks budget. First off I was concerned that Matthew of Stirling was talking about IB but I could not find a Matthew on the teamsheet who is not playing so must be talking about Blackwood !!

Then there was the letter from the Cabbage grower complaining of the opposition coaches box at Thunder Park. Perhaps he needs to have a look at his own backyard from time to time. Shall we start about how long it takes to get a football back to the middle after a goal or the annoying generator. Agreed it is nothing flash but it has been the same box for sometime and has now become an issue. Most clubs do not provide opposition teams with celbruos changerooms etc. Unfortunately there was a hot water issue last weekend which has been rectified. It is pointless going on about other issues in his letter as I doubt they have internet facilities amongst the vegetable patch.

Thunder Down Under. You dont need to defend your club mate cause Bridgewater is the biggest crap hole in the competition. Your oval is small but at least you provide shelter, cold beer and clean facilities for families. We all need to remember its country footy and like it or hate it it brings communities together each saturday and creates some great rivalries during the season.

I think the best oval in the hills (central division) in terms of facilities for an opposition team and oval condition would definitely have to be Lobethal....anyone else agree?? Worst, hmm toss up between Ironbank and Bridgy...too close to call!

Lobethal the best. Good clubrooms, plenty of parking, good canteen. They need a net behind the goals at the entrance end. Ironbank drains better than Bridgewater. Onkaparinga is good as well. Lofty is good but its on a slight angle.

No offence TDU, I know that you'd rather the older guys in A Grade, but SUCKED IN to Ironbank, going down in B's after stacking. Now I think their top 5 spot isn't looking crsh hot.
Hey, it happens in every sport, but if you're blooding youngsters in A grade, they need older heads around. Beating Hahndorf would have done their confidence a world of good and avoided a wooden spoon.
Blackwood, ruining my top 5 predictions, are out of the hunt. 1 win from 5th spot, a fair bit of percentage, and yet to sit out the bye I think.

What was the score in the B grade Ironbank game?? I know Uri's flogged Bridgey (no suprises there!) in both A's and B's.
Anyone know how Lobey did against Mt Barker? I cant wait till Wednesday for the courier, i have no patience....

Hahndorf beat IB in the Magoo's by 3 points I think it was 7 13 to 7 10 and Lobethal won both the A Grade and B Grade but I cannot recall the scores.

Why do ask LIF ??

Just curious, i want to see who's going to make finals in the B's, whether its going to be Lobey, IB or Uri's. I've just got a feeling that IB are going to miss out, with Blackwood then a bye for the last two games. Well, can't say im really that disappointed!

LIF they only need one more win and as we play Onkas this week that should see them seal a spot in the finals. Not that I think they can go all the way but finals have a habit of throwing up lots of upsets.

Stacking a b grade team means dropping players from a's to b's for the finals yeh?
naughton has only just come back from major knee injury, sodomka was dropped earlier in year for form, bretag misses games due to work, bishop only just back from long absence due to injury. all others been playing b grade all year. talk to hahndorf about stacking a b grade side.

As far as young players leaving ironbank. my strong sources tell me not one of them would leave no matter how much money was thrown at em. can not get enough of the club. thats what i've heard

so everyone has given final 5 predictions. wat bout winning the the main game. the GF. urailda for mine. too many frontrunners in the lofty team and mite struggle when the games get closer.

anyone elses thoughts??

Winger you sound like you are close to the action so explain this to me. Prior to last Sat's game Hahndorf had 6 premiership points with four games to go. Assume that they win all 4 games they end up with 14 points at the end of the season, IB are sitting in 5th spot with 15 points already. What have Hahdnorf to gain stacking their B grade side noting also that their A Grade side have a chance to play in the finals ???

Perhaps you can also explain how many BOG does Sodomka needs in the B Grade before he regains form to get back into the A Grade. Remind me also didn't Mozza come straight back into the A Grade after a knee reconstruction and what about Kearney after 6 months overseas. It can be done if it suits. You got blinkers on Winger.

Ah yes dropping players from the A Grade to the B Grade is all about stacking. A Grade performed very well last Sat against Hahndorf so one would expect few changes this week, wouldn't you ?

As for the young players no one mentioned money, its all about success and enjoying your football.

Lofty i believe will win the flag in both grades, but they are mentally brittle when it comes to the crunch. An if a team can put the slightest pressure on Lofty they will break like match sticks

Ah hahndorf was a reference to previous years. obviously this year they have not been. probably true about sodomka. kearney had been playing up qld i believe. but yeh u make a good point.

and as far as the youngsters enjoying the football. they say they've never lost so many games but never enjoyed their football as much. think a bit of loyalty comes into play where it may be missing from certain other individuals.

any truth to the rumours that if lofty wins the big one alot of paid players will leave cos they've achieved wat they were after??

Just wanted to say i played on mark nielsen from mount lofty the other weekend and how he isnt playing A's i'll never know!
I know their A's are strong but I found him just too tallented to control! The fact he broke his hand and missed so much footy is the only thing stopping him from winning the mail medal!
Cheers footballer!
