All premierships i have played in had that blend of young and old(more old than young) . You don't loose skill and DENIS EATON ooooozed skills 8) so it would only be a question of fitness. IMO! denis is at that stage of life  , His business and providing for his young family is the fore most thing concerning Danno at this stage. (would not risk injury for the amount TWs would give him). Just great to see the vetrans out early and reassuring the young lads they do posses the ability to be a real force in the near future. But some players ego/head problems must be addressed also.

Also played against Denno years ago and there is no denying how good he was but i guess he is just one of those blokes that people love to have a dig at, like swamp was earlier. You can put that down to the fact that Denno will tell anyone who will listen, just how good he is. I think it will be great if he plays any grade next year. Will be good for Two Wells and definately good for this forum....
One day original John Palmer will be found & the truth will be known.

I'm pretty sure Denno fronted up for a few night's last year through pre-season, probably just wants to shave off a bit of the christmas dinner, i wouldn't expect him to play, but who know's.
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

Apparently United have filled their import spots for next season, who they have kept and who they have lost is a question even the committee cant answer as it seems only the 2 or 3 blokes recruiting know. Probably a good move given the loyalty of some blokes these days, even though they have signed its no use bragging out aloud until they run out in Round 1 which is why I think most clubs are keeping tight lipped about their new boys.

No having spoken to him recently there are still a couple of spots to fill, however Mallala have several promising young juniors who will be developed and strongly encouraged to try and play in the A grade so there is no real urgency as it will be great to see these young lads come through.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not but I believe Adrian Mills, ex-Willaston and Central 19s/Reserves player is up at Gums this year I think. Is a Donnybrook local and aparantly they were never planning on matching what Gums offered so he headed up to the rocking horse.

United have signed up Adrian Mills for 2009 season.
The onballer has recently moved to Freeling to live and agreed strongly with a handshake with every member of Freelings entire committee that he would play for his home town. However he burnt them badly and went off chasing more money and has ended up at United. Apparently he did a similar thing last season, burning his home club at Willaston to chase a bit more coin up at Gumeracha. Sounds like another loyal aquisition for the Tigers in 2009.

No pressure to perform out there either mate, with the wanna-be coaches casting the huge shadow that they do! Hope he starts the season well, for his sake at least!

Sounds like he will fit in perfect at tiger land.

would think that hamley & virginia would be the 2 teams in the APFL that cant retain players
most other clubs keep import players until nearly retirement.

also if the rumour is true it will be interesting to see how the swap of Graham (to gums) with Mills will compare!
think i could guess which one is costing more!!!

You would hope so UF. Mills was a member of BLGFC association side last year so he must go alright. Just his character seems a bit different with 3 clubs in 3 years, lets hope UNited can retain him for a few years as they have most of their imports.

Reading your posts on the BLG Thread SD and the fact that you dug up a quote from a year ago it sounds like you have done a bit of homework on the lad. It might be just me but I am reading between the lines that maybe Mallala had a crack at recruiting him either this year, last year or both. From an outsider it sounds like sour grapes.

A mate of mine told me that he has signed at United, he's a full-forward so I'm assuming he'd be a replacement for Searle?

Not talking about Mills by the way, someone else. Mills is an on-baller.

Think you are pretty close there Doc. I have a friend who knows Mills and he has linked him with Mallala in the past on a few occasions. Don't know the finer details but obviously the deal was never closed. He must've been good enough for them at some stage though.

Exactly Woof man. Pretty poor form from Swamp Donkey to get on here and bag the bloke when they obviously had a big crack at him. If he has signed at United then that would be a great pickup for them as he is still young. Wonder is SD would have the same opinion of him if he had signed at Mallala  .

Yeah a good rumour re Mallala chasing him, but Mallala arent and have not been interested in blokes that openly hold their own bidding war, as you'll see the imports at Mallala are "good" blokes not individuals trying to increase their income through footy. I guess it depends on what clubs are looking for in a player ;) My mail was from Freeling and certainly had nothing to do with the rubbish you blokes are spinning about a link with Mallala. Sounds like he's been talking himself up if he's making sh*t up about who is chasing him!!!
