Postby brod » Sat Jan 03, 2009 8:12 pm

The ICC has joined hands with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) to formally launch the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, as part of its centenary year celebrations. The current list of players includes the 55 named in the FICA Hall of Fame, which ran between 1999 and 2003, and will see new players added each year, to be announced at the annual ICC Awards.

The initial 55 inductees (or their relatives) will be presented with a commemorative ICC Cricket Hall of Fame cap during the centenary year. The living members of the Hall of Fame will also have the chance to help choose the newcomers.

"We have studied numerous halls of fame in other sports to see what works and what doesn't and how best we can achieve our goal, to recognise the game's greatest achievers," Haroon Lorgat, the ICC president, said in Sydney at the launch.

"We want to ensure that as many of the game's stakeholders as possible, including current ICC Cricket Hall of Famers and members of the public, get the chance to have their say in the process of choosing the game's true legends."

Rodney Marsh, the former Australian wicketkeeper, was the first to receive his commemorative cap.

There must be. So many names that are not there like Lara, S. Waugh, Healy (among others) as well as those mentioned above. Not to mention current players.
