Surprising that, despite their much touted status in some circles as the greatest rock band of all time (not by me!), not one vote for "Satisfaction". Could this suggest the Stones are overrated? I don't necessarily believe that, but over to the panel...

Most Stones fans would say it simply isn't their best song. Most famous perhaps, but not that great compared to:

Gimme Shelter*
Sympathy for the Devil
Street Fighting Man
Paint it Black
Rocks Off
etc

1. Complete Control/Magnificent Seven/White Man & many others - The Clash
2. Sweet Jane - Lou Reed
3. Starman - Bowie
4. So What - Miles Davis
5. Lounge Act - Nirvana

No: 1 is always the clash but as with most people the rest move around on a fairly regular basis.

Pound for pound I can't think of a better crafted pop song than 'There She Goes' by The 'Las.

What? No 'Imperium' by Machine Head? :D

There can never be a definitive 'greatest' song. My choice would quite often sway dependant on moods and environment.

Agreed. They are always labeled as a one hit wonder which is annoying considering the quality of the album. Also I think Timeless Melody may have charted as well.

Ever heard the Cowboy Junkies version of this?
Even Reed thinks it is better than the original.

About A Girl by Nirvana is my favourite of all time, but like some others said, the ones below it seem to rotate constantly.

The next four on my most played iTunes list are:

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
Hunters & Collectors - Holy Grail
REM - Losing My Religion
Foo Fighters - Everlong

If you are going with a Zep tune then Kashmir is better than Stairway.

Great selection. My pick from Beggar's Banquet though is Straycat Blues. I also like Can you hear me knocking from Sticky Fingers.

Beggar's Banquet is a great album -I only heard it in full a few months back.
Yep Stray Cat Blues is a top track and definitely one of the best 'unknown' Stones songs -haha it's probably one that never made it to radio ;)
I don't mind other tracks on there either like Prodigal Son, Factory Girl and Salt of the Earth.

I agree with Can't You Hear Me Knocking -an unexpected sort of track that moves from a normal kind of rocker to a jazz-like jam.
