Fair call.

Well we were pretty disappointing last week. We let PAOC kick 6.1 in the first 15 minutes before we scored anything, and that's what the margin was at the finish, plus a goal after the siren. Just that fifteen minutes that cost us but that's footy.

Pooraka vs PAOC (Got a couple back and they might just get another win)
Walkerville vs Payneham NU (Another good game, Walkies just at home)
Pembroke OS vs Athelstone (Another good game, will be very close but the Raggies just)
Salisbury vs Eastern Park (Never like losing to Eastern Park)
Flinders Park vs Old Ignatians (Will be tight but Iggies will get up)

Probably the best round of matches for the season I'd reckon...

For mine...

Pooraka, Payneham NU, Athelstone, Eastern Park, Old Iggies.

It is a very good round of matches.

Good to see you back Swingman. Whenan should be back in 2 weeks, bad shoulder. We have got players to return so we'll be OK.

Raggies went down to Pembroke today in a tough encounter. Good game. Unfortunately the Raggies finished with some key players on the bench with injury.

This game showed there are at least a couple of genuine contenders in this comp.

Haslam Oval is too small for senior footy. One lucky bounce in the middle usually results in a shot on goal.

They bought a couple last year and went out in straight sets, so the league must've just made the rule, but yeah, aparantly they won't. Might be a good thing for your guys Lisa.

Forget finals though, the race for 8th spot is the hottest thing in A3 now...

I was always thought that teams that didnt have sponsors beer on tap were not eligible to host finals..may have to get someone to verify this... yes, it would be VERY handy for us?

Last week's newsletter said this:
"Only those clubs who are sponsored by an alternate brewer are not eligible to host a home final."

You caught a decent break...

Injuries out at raggie land

Postby swingman151 » Fri Aug 11, 2006 10:15 am

Apparently ive heard that P. Jarmyn is playing full forward this week in the A's & mark 'blondehair' Fenton was dropped. Why wouldnt you play mark at full forward. Instead you have crushed the blokes confidence considering he has carried the side the last couple of weeks. I wouldnt be surprised if he gives it away next year or look for another club. He is such a better ruckman around the ground then the other two ruckman & he has proved that in the last 2 weeks. You must have rocks in your head to even consider playing P Jarmyn -

If a club that earns the right to a home final is not eligible due to beer sponsor it goes to a neutral ground not the other club. So in the end it didn't really matter.

He's right Lisa, if you guys finish third and Pembroke were ineligible, it would end up at Kilburn or our ground or Hectorville probably.

Hey blublurag, was wondering how badly Duigan, Thompson, and Robertson are injured? If it's year ending it might swing the premiership favouritism towards Pembroke a bit more...

Anyway, tips for this week...

PAOC vs Athelstone (Might be closer than some people think with Athelstone's injuries)
Eastern Park vs Walkerville (EP have nothing to play for, oval might suit Walkies too)
Salisbury vs Flinders Park (Our season is on the line, like last week)
Pooraka vs Pembroke OS (10+ I think)
Old Ignatians vs Payneham NU (I've picked you this week Lisa, don't let me down...)

It was nice of 'The Has-Been Who Never Was' to declare us a certainty to be relegated in this week's Sportsbeat. Considering we're one win away from 8th spot, and we're playing a team not in the Top 5 this week (at home), I'd suggest we've got just as much chance of staying up as Pooraka or PAOC, who both have Athelstone and Pembroke in the last two rounds. But it wasn't my column I 'spose...

Dont worry Pag, we wont lose this week... an executive decision has been made to wear the black and white jumper (supposedly because iggies have yellow in their jumper) and also its my birthday and we've NEVER lost on the weekend of my birthday  .... quite a few back in as well, including Todd Patfull, Scott Darrington and Wes Woodman

Duigan not good. Confirmation next week from specialist but it doesn't look good. The other 2 will be OK. Not a good run with injuries, will be 7 A graders who have had a premature end to the season. With other injuries it is really starting to put some pressure on. Still getting 4 teams out there though and that is a real credit to the coaches in our 2 lower grades. We are looking to get a fair few back for finals as we all know, "best laid plans...."

I made mention about the 'Has Been' last night at the Club saying exactly what you said Pag, I agree, you have got more chance than both of the others on the face of it (based on how in depth his research goes anyway).

My tips...
Athelstone, Walkerville, Flinders Park (hope you win though Pag), Pembroke OS, Payneham NU

Not Joel (who plays for the Bears....we WISH) or Nick with the broken arm, it is brother Todd who was working in QLD for a while...he was our BOG in the GF last year, and will fill a huge hole in our forward lines.

We still have 16 year old FF sensation Nick Jolly to come back (another week or 2 for him) and Staggys 4th attempt at coming back after a hamstring injury :x , so hopefully we'll have a full contingent of relatively fit blokes going into finals (knock on wood)*** FC taps her head****...

Bad luck about Joe, he'd be devastated, lucky for you guys your not without down that end of the ground.... and you have a Stag with 2 hamstrings
