It makes sense to give Hughes a go on his home deck in Sydney instead of dropping him in the cauldron in South Africa.

Not bad, not bad at all. At the risk of Roddy Rooster having a rolly eyes aneurysm I reckon Watson (no matter what an unpleasant character he appears) has to be given a trot next test. Does Hayden really have to be given another test? they did'nt give Healy (thank Christ) G Marsh or anyone who was'nt a ''marketing face'' that honour, Even Hussey could be given the hint that perform or no tour for you.
Unfortunately for Australia to rebuild before the Ashes KFC & Toyota would have to recast just about all their commercials, won't happen & CA will again be told the selection criteria by the sponsors, or so it seems.

-just for the record took the $13.50 Australia this morning, just going on the ebbing & flowing of the game so far.

No need for rolling eyes Sheik. Perhaps if Watto could wash his hands without breaking down he could get a run but unfortunately for him he's more injury prone than Bruce Reid. I do feel sorry for the bloke though so please don't suggest i take any delight in this news.

Can anyone explain why Mitchell Johnson isn't bowling? He is our best bowler yet we have an unfit Lee bowling no-balls :?

Ponting is fixated on the notion that Mitch is and always will be a first change bowler.

Harking back, can anyone say why Katich wasn't given a bowl?Everyone knows that SA can't play leg-spin.
Ok' he may have a sore shoulder but it's ok to bowl Lee with a broken foot?
WTF is going on with the ACB?

Good question. Michael Clarke was asked this before play yesterday i think and it wasn't an injury concern but just that he never got given the chance. Wasn't considered which is quite amazing really.

Agree, but every time anyone suggests Watson over Symonds your puter seems to have an overdose of smilley winky roll eyes thingys. & yes, good chance he'll combust but we just can't keep this team as is, something desperately has to be done.

Not watching but listening on radio. Jeez Kerry OKeefe continues to diminish his shrinking credability, he want's Henriques to replace Symonds, Hughes to replace Hayden and Bollinger to replace Lee. Why not just let NSW play SAfrica in the third test?

That's just because i get frustrated by the continual over rating of an incredibly mediocre cricketer in Watson. Even when he's fit he is average and he can't be relied upon to play for any significant length of time regardless. I agree we can't keep the team exactly as it is but Watto aint the answer to the current problems.

Let me qualify one thing before I make my point. I wish for Australia to win series after series and am disappointed in this loss BUT if anyone doubts the good that can come of this for world and Australian cricket in general you're missing the big picture.

One more thing, some are calling for various heads to roll in the playing side, what about some of the selectors. Might be time for some changes up there as well. Hilditch & Co should make way for some different ideas that are a little more current e.g Lehman, McGrath & or Langer.

Perhaps shelve the notion of discovering a 2005 version of Andrew Flintoff and pick 6 batsmen and 4 bowlers.

Hasn't bowled in the net for a while and has a sore shoulder. That should be reason enough not to bowl a part timer.

THE Australian cricket selectors have called up NSW paceman Doug Bollinger and Victorian all-rounder Andrew McDonald.

They have been brought into a squad of 13 for the final match of the three-Test series with South Africa which starts at the SCG on Saturday.
