Waste of money. The stadium doesn't even fill up for AFL finals and is lucky to be 1/2 full for Power games.

Is this really whats needed now. We have a government looking at cutting costs on a major hospital by doing some really stupid things and yet lets upgrade a footy staduim. While I agree the facilty is getting on and perhaps some aspects need attention I really think SA football can get by with it in its current state for now. That or the SANFL should fund it themselves.

The upgrades look great. They bring real world class to the stadium, spectators closer, more of them under cover, easier access through the gates and on road. Get a train line there and it would be perfect IMO.
The good thing about upgrading Footy Park is that most of the work is already done, so it is much cheaper than building a new stadium, and it has gauranteed use by the highest spectator drawing sport in Adelaide-Aussie Rules.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I wonder how the financially struggling clubs feel about the full page newspaper ads and radio ads promoting the fact Footy Park is going to be upgraded.
Im not sure what the benefit is of these?
And if the government are paying for the adverts then replaces "struggling clubs" with "struggling people".

I would rather a world class hospital than world class sporting events. Even with an upgraded stadium we will struggle to get the crowds needed to attract the big sporting events away from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to a lesser exstent.

Amy Stadium was a bit of a f***-up from the start. No access to train-lines, not in a central location, the 'shape' of the oval makes it pretty much impossible to play cricket or soccer on it, etc. Wasting more money on it will not improve these problems.

i agree a new stadium should be built in the city...we wont get a look in at any international sports here the facilities at footy pk dont cut it.Also be easy access for everyone by bus and trains...and have a drink and be merry
