I think Watson has to play, need another bowling option if going to take 20 wickets...

Haven't got anything to lose if we go 2-0 down in this test..

We'll romp the third test in ;)

Watson has got to play, but, I agree Hussey has got to come in too. It's crazy that a player so good can't make the side.

Symonds is in the team as a pure batsman, ahead of Hussey, not that is a farce.

Hughes
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Hussey
Watson
Haddin
Hilfenhaus
Johnson
Siddle

Clarke/Hussey/Katich to bowl spin. I know it's not going to happen, probably shouldn't too, but man I want D.Hussey in the side.

as per usual there wont be household changes unless for injury so i see my 11 as:

Hayden
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Haddin
Watson
Johnson
Hilfenhaus
Hauritz
Siddle

Ditto. Give Hayden the chance to perhaps retire in Sydney ?

Would love to see two spinners play, but the quality is so questionable.

OUT - Lee, Symonds (both inj)
IN - Hilfenhaus, D Hussey

One ponders whether Nathan Bracken will be considered, at least he has some experience, losing Lee, leaves Mitchell Johnson as our most experienced bowler and he has only been on the scene for a short period of time

In my opinion Symonds should be out and North or David Hussey.

Most definately would be our worst bowling attack for a decade at least (and probably our worst overall also)

Are you saying worst bowling attack ever?[/quote]

no worst team we have put on the field for a decade also

as I said a few months back, it all started when Katich made the team

Actually, I like that idea.

Played only 3 series, one a very tough one vs India (struggled, so did everyone else), played a test vs Windies and did well, then did okay against RSA in one test.

He doesn't have the greatest record but it's not enough to go on to say he's a test dud. I wouldn't mind him in Sydney. Hilf is my first choice but I'd prefer Bracker over Bollinger.

If I were selecting -
IN: Hilfenhaus, Bracken, Hughes, D Hussey
OUT: Lee, Symonds, Hayden, Clarke
I think Clarke will develop but he is too brittle at present, and I think we should rotate it around a bit and build up the experience of the squad, rather than keep using the same guys, fit or not, and having no experienced reserves.

You're kidding aren't you???
Clarke is one of the only batsmen who has consistently made runs over the past few months.
Since the start of the India tour he's averaged over 50.

ROFLMAO

Thanks god you're not a selector. Drop the vice captain who has made 421 runs at 70.16 this summer? Makes perfect sense

Matty Hayden your time is up was a great player but the party is over..!!!!....give it away before you are sacked.....

1/ Mike Hussey???............huge question marks at the moment......but should hold his spot...

2/ Symonds....???.............surely he's not the best number six batsman in Australia??, coz he certainly aint no allrounder!!!.................to be an allrounder u have to be able to bowl!!!...

3/ Lee...!!!....lucky your injured coz you should have been dropped........bowls with little or no fire seems to be simply going through the motions..........once again was a very good player but sadly no longer and with age against him his time is nearly up...

overall we have an overage under performing team that for the first time in a number of years has come up against some real quality opposition ie, India & South Africa....and we have been found wanting.............................i must say the Aussies have given us an amazing ride over the last 10 - 12 yrs but sadly the party is over and we are no longer the powerhouse we once where..........................i cant see us retaining the ashes either!!!!

I just hope they select a side that is FIT. We went into the Indian series with Clark and Lee both under clouds and paid dearly for it; Lee has continued to struggle in this series with Symonds now also on one leg. We would not be on the edge of losing this series if we had 11 fit players on the park all the way through.

Hussey averaged only 37 in 2008, not the worst of our batsmen

Jason Krejza tends to give away too many easy runs getting turned to square leg.
I would look at Bracken for Lee in Sydney- it really is the only option at the moment.
Hayden keeps his spot- he would still be considered a thorn in the Springbok's side even though he's out of form.
Bring in D Hussey for Symonds.

The more you think about it the more sense it would make to include Bracken mainly because it reduces the amount of international experience lost. Still backing the Hilf of course ;)

Glad I bought the Bracken topic up, nothing against Bollinger and The Hilf, but we need some experience to back of Mitchell Johnson here, those two guys will get their chance soon enough, but we may be going into a test to save face, how some people can say if we take Hilf into the Test we will win bambooozles me ( bet that word aint be used in here b4), he is good but has to wait his chance, personally the way he bowls I reckon he will excel (not microsoft excel) in England. So we sit and wait. Could be one of the most interesting test selections in many many years about to unfold
