Hilfenhaus in. Give these young players with talent a chance to show what they can do!

Lee wont play the next test. bring in watson and hilfenhaus for symonds and lee. Sydney will be Haydens last test match in Australia.

Too many pipes. Watson is still a dud no matter how poorly the side is playing.

1 nil down in the series and possibly two down the way we played today so if we are still a chance to level the series then there is no place for fairy tales and Hayden(barring a 50+ score in this innings) needs to go and Hughes should be given the spot as he is young and in great form. Lee will miss a lengthy period if he does indeed have stress fractures so i would like to see Hilf or Bollinger in to replace him. If Symonds can't bowl his medium pacers then Watson should come in for him. I don't think we need to change the rest of the batting order M Hussey will make runs soon he is a class batsmen and had to have a quiet period at some stage of his career but he will respond very soon. I really think we need to inject a young batsmen into our line-up as Clarke is the only one under 30 and there is a chance the rest of them will leave very close together so someone else young is important imo.

So after that rant my side for sydney would be

Hughes
Katich
Ponting
Hussey M
Clarke
Symonds if fit otherwise Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Hauritz
Bollinger
Siddle

Hilf 12th man

Well for starters Rogers instead of Hughes. Rogers is in form with the bat and Hughes is just starting out. When 7 players are living or currently come from NSW with Australian Contracts and considered for the Test team there is a problem.

& there's our problem- that side resembles nothing of what we put on the park 12 months ago.
No-
Hayden
Langer
Martyn
Gilchrist
Warne
McGrath
Tait
Clarke

we had an embarrassment of riches in the days of Australia A, this no longer appears to be the case- I could be wrong, as I don't have a great knowledge of the domestic cricket scene.
Do we have any genuine talent emerging, that can be compared to 10 years ago?
We seemed to be able replace one top line cricketer with another- Warne, McGrath & even Gilchrist have proven irreplaceable though.

Yes, agree on Hughes. Not sold on Rogers though. I think they'd force M or D Hussey to open as a stop-gap if needed.

Let's not rush a 20 year old in just because we are panicking about the fact that we aren't dominating anymore. It's his first year (or so) and if he's as good as all that he has PLENTY of time to learn his trade. Just because he's 20 and is belting state bowling attacks around is no guarantee he'll do the same v Steyn and co.

We have to get used to the fact that Australia is now only 50-50 with the world's best teams. So we will have bad days and good days. We have to live with it. The worst thing we can do is destabilise the side with too many knee-jerk changes and players being thrown to the wolves before they are ready.

We are in a transition from clearly the best to one of the best. This isn't 1977 or 1985 so there's no need to react like we had to back then. We are still one of the best teams going around. RSA just happen to be the best opponent we have, hence the results so far this series.

So when we were dominating with Taylor, Slater, M Waugh, S Waugh, Bevan, McGill and McGrath it was okay? Add Emery, Gilchrist and Nicholson as members of the contracted list and whats the problem with having 10 New South Welshmen in the squad???

Who cares where they come from as long as they play hard determined cricket, arguably in the top five worst comments ever on this site and given my propensity for sh!thouse comments that is saying something.

However I agree with you that Rodgers should be next opener of the rank but with the injury clouds over Symonds and Lee Hayden will play in Sydney to retain some sembelence of experience in the team.

If Symonds isn't fit he shouldn't play he hasn't got enough selection credits to ve able to play injured. Crikey with with the lack of talent we have in the side we can't afford to play injured players.

for mine the Sydney XII should be:

Hayden
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Huaritz
Siddle
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

IMHO Hayden is finished and needs to be replaced.

Jaques would be the first in line if not for injury so he is ruled out.

Rogers is in good form and making runs, but is no longer CA contracted which to me tells a story itself. He is 31. 661 runs @ 82.63 2 50's 3 100's H.Score 159

Hughes is also in good form, making runs he also is not CA contracted due to how long he has been around. He is 20. His season stats are 658 runs @ 59.82 2 50's 3 100's H.Score 198

With such even stats i would rather see us take a punt on a young fella who may bring some stability to the side that others are saying we lack atm. We have lost lots of players in the last 12-18 months and i think it is a good opportunity to get a young fella in there whilst the wheels are still on. They seem much more comfortable with taking a punt with a bowler but not with a batsmen.

Heres what I think for the 3rd test:

Hayden
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Haddin
Johnson
Hauritz
HiLF
Siddle

In my opinion Symonds should be out and North or David Hussey.

Yep, that would be mine too. I'd play Roy only if he's fit. Why he played this game is beyond me (assuming he had the injury before the game started). It's like he's being picked on principle :? As you say, not enough credits in the bank to be playing injured.

I'd possibly play Bollinger ahead of Hilf because it's his home deck. Siddle's done better on his home deck.
