Actually I agree with you on that one Psyber, but applying all of this to everyone, how should they deal with the AFL players that do get caught?

Especially the Port Power player who has been caught twice?

Perhaps the AFL should get more corporate and less legalistic, and instead of relying on tests to "prove" anything, just adopt a Code of Conduct which states that any employee of a club, who, in the judgement of the managementof the AFL , brings their club, the AFL, or the sport, into disrepute, will be suspended and or fined or sacked. Then spell it out in detail and enforce it..

The problem is getting the clubs to not cover it up, so the AFL have to run it I guess, but openly with the clubs so the clubs know who is suspect too.

this has nothing to do with the thread title so let's get this topic back on track and/or continue your conversation on a new thread or by PM :-k ;)

Appropriate that Cousins has that supposed Ned Kelly quote tattooed on him.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Just a point of order here. No court of law in the land will declare a person's innocence. A person is either "guilty" or "not guilty" of a charge.

A "not guilty" verdict is not proof of innocence. "Not guilty" can simply mean a person has committed the crime but there is insufficient evidence to support the charge. Just remember, a person doesn't end up in court unless there is sufficient evidence to place him there in the first place.

Getting someone to court is easy. Proving their guilt is the hard part, especially when they have the support networks that Ben Cousins has in his corner. If Joe Average had done half the things Cousins has done, you can rest assured if he didn't spend some time behind bars, certainly convictions would have been recorded.

People will try to portray Ben Cousins as an innocent angel, but not many things can further from the truth.

I'm looking forward to when the Cornes boys retire so we can read some honest opinions for a change. At the moment he is "hip hip hooray for players" to cover himself in case one of his lads or their mates do something stupid like Cousins, and then he couldn't defend them having criticised others.

very interesting that you've suggested Chad Cornes in the same breath as Cousins- oh hang on, you didn't.... ;)
On a completely different subject, just imagine if one of the Cornes boys (Chad) returned a positive test result- what would Gra-gra say? :-?

He would say that we should get off the players backs as they are special and we should treat them differently than everybody else and that boys will be boys.

Finally got around to reading the article.
He was probably a bit harsh on them, but pretty much clarifying how the wider (non collingwood supporting) football public view collingwood.
An entertaining short read.

Not half as entertaining the comments it has sparked on this thread.
Collingwood supporters are hillarious
