Can anyone remember when this was? I've been going to The Parade for thirty odd years now and can't remember this kind of naff carry on. Mind you in recent years the roars would have been few and far between.

I reckon it was mid to late 80's Topsy.
Barto is correct, it sounded awful. Also the timing was pretty bad: the Legs would kick a goal, then there'd be the natural crowd reaction, then as it died down you'd hear this second crowd noise over the PA system which sounded completely different and stood out like Homer Simpsons pasted into a real life photo.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

About 10 years ago? It didn't last long, I don't think they even persisted for the entire game, even the home crowd were bitching about it.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Maybe they experimented with it on a couple of occassions Barto? 10 years ago would be just two years before I left for Japan and my experience with the "PA crowd noise" was waaay before then.

1. Flares
2. Supporters bagging their own players
3 . Final five. We only have nine teams!
4. Media, usually Victorian pronouncing SANFL, WAFL and QAFL as words whereas AFL is A.F.L. and VFL is V.F.L.
5. Used to be Port supporters saying premierships weren't as good 'cos we hadn't beaten them. Haven't heard much from them lately.
6. People who see every free kick and more for their own team, and never understand one for the opposition, no matter how blatant. This is particularly bad at Crows and Power games, especially amongst the oldies. And they don't understand that if the white maggots miss one, they can't just ignore the next one to even up. Not all supporters but crikey there are some idiots out there.

erm.., maybe some more later

Ha ha, Kilburn were a powerhouse. I know I said were, but it's still better than PAOC, Norwood and Collingwood. I'm sure you'll send your dad out to bash mw Jimmy.

Any loss to Port Adel
Our GF loss to Sturt 2002
Our GF loss to the Eagles 2006
Any Long Term injuries to CDFC players
When star Central players eventually retire
when we lose any game!
when an irritating opponent calls ours boys 'slow'!
when bad umpiring decisions cost Centrals wins!
When footy commentators want Centrals to lose Grand finals
When opponents use dirty tactics and try and knock our boys out during the game.

Wouldn't happen the other way at all now would it  .
Only a few from me.
Wooden spoons (can't even mix a cake still without breaking down crying :( )
People having a go at Alex at Sturt games (expect it from kids, not adults)
Changing the damn rules all the time. Our game was fine to start with.
Parents that think a bit of footy banter is going to turn violent, we're just having fun (family friendly area please!)
Proximity of the family friendly area to the Area behind the goals at most grounds. Cheer squads have always been there and i don't think they would have the same effect on the wing (see the Puffs outer armies, pathetic, but very funny  )

We don't rely on using dirty tactics to win games, pure skill and class is what we're about!

Ah yes those colours.....i knew there was a good reason the cricket club divorced the footy club
but i must say the Parkside Hotel coincided with the great era for the Kenilworth Cricket Club
although i can vividly remember one match lost directly as a result of several inebriated batsmen being dragged out of the pub followed by the inevitable batting collapse...

You were going good until "when an irritating opponent calls ours boys 'slow'!". I really like it when we are called old and slow. Whenever our old slow players carved up Glenelg at the GF I had a great laugh. I also don't want CG to ever tip us and when the opposition try and knock our boys out we play better.

The rest are spot on. :)
We used to be good :-(
