With the team we'll have next year Jesus Christ would be flat out making the reserves!

I don't think he'd have the defensive action to make our side. Although he would have very strong shoulders from keeping his arms raised...

But it wouldn't surprise to see your mob claim you can fit him under the salary cap.

Mate, he was only a carpenter. We can fit a couple of those under our salary cap already, I'm sure he'd accept the same rates ;)

I've been told that the Doggies admin is very confident about being up there next season.
I understand that the club has a contingent of former North Melbourne players coming over. I was told four - not sure if that's including Sansbury but would assume it does.
I can't verify this info but the person who told me usually has pretty good sources.
Anyone heard anything similar?
Also - has it been said anywhere that Slattery's gone for next year?

DW, surely not even Central would pretend they've got room for another lot of ex-AFL players

If so, who and how many are taking a big, big, big, big, huge pay cut?

Doesn't sound very likely.

Ware and Slattery would leave some kind of hole in the cap, but I agree RaB - 4 sounds fanciful, unless Grand Central are also hiring...

From Nth Melb - Grant, Thompson and Sinclair retired. Grant is coaching Frankston, Thompson's playing with Werribee and Sinclair in a local league.
They cut Brown (picked up by C'wood), Grima (signed with VFL club), Davies (signed with VFL club), Obst (re-rookied), Wilsen (a NSW scholarship rookie) and Sansbury.
There's only 2 available, including Sansbury.

It is not North Melbourne but a club aligned to them.

As far as I was aware I spoke to Slatts at the brewery and the B&F and he said he was playing on next year. Although alot of it comes down to his job in Melbourne.

The problem for Central with this is that Ware and Slattery should be well down the player payment scale. However, those with an idea of what one of those players was offered would know that CD are likely to be a long, long way over the cap. Keeping a multi-premiership side under the cap is difficult at the best of times, let alone adding several new players.

Not that the SANFL are interested, they'll just move the goalposts to accommodate Central and others.

At the very least, CD spent up to the cap last year. Therefore let's see what their final recruiting is and if it's feasible.

Yes, that may be true but let's not forget there is a thing called list turnover, players retire freeing up cap, some players will take cuts therefore freeing up more room for any recruit(s).

Plus forward/backending of contracts, we can have suspicions about most clubs (and are likely close to the money) but who really knows the exact state of play???

That's right, CP, but with a team that has won several recent premierships, the back-ending of contracts has to come home to roost soon (no pun intended). Unlikely there are many forward loaded contracts in such a team.

Scenario A

"Come in player A, I know you've just played in a premiership team, but we're reducing your contract payment for next season".

Scenario B

"I've just played in a premiership. I think I deserve a pay rise".

I know which one is closer to the truth :)

As for list turnover, that's listed on the recruitment thread, so it will be easy to judge.
