Romano Negri and John Fidge to United, just for your gossip column Rooster

Please tell me there is at least a little bit of truth in the Fidge rumour Swamp! That would be absolutely awesome (one of my childhood hero's). That would be enough for me to make a comeback. Also, you could expect a cracker of a season out of Pint of Ale!!!!

I heard he'll only play if you play unit, a 'package' deal.

Negri taps to unit, unit HB to PoA, PoA sells a couple and lace out to Fidge.

Apparently the only thing holding up the deal at this stage is Jamo isnt willing to give up the #8 jumper and he wants a place in the Long Plains first XI. Highly possible if its the skippers call!

Bloody Jamo! He wouldn't give that number up for anyone. Reckon Fidgy would fit nicely into the 1st drop position that LPCC are having trouble filling. He would have to grow back the permed blonde mullet though!
One day original John Palmer will be found & the truth will be known.

Rumour out of the Mallala pub last night was that Dennis Eaton is gonna make ANOTHER return to Two Wells.

Maybe someone at United should give him a buzz
Would though expect Eastern Pk would be front runners seeing Wilson was given not required also from Kilburn
and thats where he has gone

Heard a strong story their 2008 captain is returning to his former club in Div 1 to play with his mates again and because the Kilburn ethos is not 'family friendly'.

Sorry guys, I know this doesn't relate to APFL..however....absolute crap that these blokes (Calyun and Wilson) were shown the door. Completely false. Maybe offered less money, certainly not shown the door.

Bloody good idea MC - the boy could play - I have always been a fan - if you see Jock let him know trainings starting soon (hang on - he probably knows already and realises what a ridiculous idea it is SD).

While I am on it (thanks MC) - are you blokes saying that if players (old or young) want to come out and train that your clubs would tell them "go away - you are too old"?

If the "player" was disruptive or just plain hopeless then maybe you would but if the player was association level and wanting to have a run with the youngsters, I would suggest you would welcome him out just as Two Wells did the other Sunday.

Whether he plays A grade in the future is really up to him I would think - if he performs and attains the appropriate fitness levels to put himself in front of the selectors only time will tell.

No club would tell any player to not train with them Jumbo, old or young, more numbers the better I say. More just having a dig at Denno with the Donkey.

Good luck too Denno if he is still good enough, but like Donkey says if he plays much A Grade it would be a big slap in the face to your youth policy.

Disagree . You need a few older heads with a lot of younger ones

experience vs talented youth ...... that's the question and the equation to get right. I would expect most successful sides have a good or maybe a better word is "appropriate" balance of both which is entirely dependant on the the players in both categories. If all the youth was brilliant then experience required would be minimal or nil, that would be the ideal.

Personally having played with Deno many years back I hope he does reach the levels required to make the A grade - he would then be an assett irrespective of his age. Norm11 has played with him most of his playing days and I am sure agrees that he has something to offer if fit.

I would also hope the selection panel would not give him a game (or any other player young or old) until such time as the standards required have been met.
