1 West (Jason Davenport) Best player in this draft, ready to go.
2 Souths (Jackson Trengove) Souths may take a tall
3 Norths (Mitch Banner) Best small to compliment their new talls
4 WWT (Rory Sloane) Maybe a hunch, best replacement for the skipworth loss, but could easily take a tall
5 Ports (Will Young) Could go this key position player
6 Norwood (Shaun McKernan) Norwoods like WA,ST,WWT need a ruckman, incase Doyle goes down
7 Sturts (Tom Lee) Next best tall
8 Glenelg (Jessie Laurie) No reasoning
9 Centrals (Brian Donnelly) Maybe better value then Henderson
10 West (Ricky Henderson) As with above purely a project player
...more like "when Doyle goes down".....can almost guarantee he'll be injured within the first three games of the season...

Norwood's an interesting one b/c we really need a KPP (Trengove, Young, McKernan, Lee) if Adam Cockshell isn't going to be around next year. (Presumed that decision would be taken out of our hands and he'd be rookied by a Vic club.)

But if he is going to be around, then with the recruiting of Andrew Lee, plus existing players and Kieran McGuinness on the '3rd tall' down back, we'd be better going with a small dude. Monday isn't long to work it out one way or t'other.

Was down West Lakes way for work this morning and saw the Crows were training at Max Basheer Reserve so I stopped in and had a look for 15 or 20 minutes...

Interested onlooker was Centrals coach Roy Laird, obviously doing his home work on who he likes the look of for the Mini Draft (out of the 2 blokes that will be left come pick 9) which are likely to be Henderson and Donnelly in my opinion.

He had a good chat to former coach Alan Stewart and team mate Stephen Schwerdt about who might be the best option. Will be interesting to see come Monday which clubs take which player.

Henderson is good, real good. No way he lasts pick 10 after seeing him today.

I crossing my fingers we get Tommy Lee.

I am glad that we took Davenport he should add to our midfield strength.

We have picks 4 and 13 which means we can have one of the scholarship lads from NSW added to our list but not expected to play in 2009.

SANFL will announce details shortly of who going where.

I've phoned the SANFL 3 times this morning, for absolutely zero result

G, I know your knowledge of the SANFL is not strong, but I think Jason Davenport, Hamish Hartlett and Shane Birss are reasonable on-ballers.

Norwood were the big winners. ;)

In all seriousness, Sturt did exceptionally well. Lee is a gem.

Trengrove is a steal as well IMO he was initially touted as a top 10 pick in the national draft and it looks as though he may spend some time fully recovering from his injuries in the SANFL.
