I wasn't. I'm still not. This was a very stupid declaration indeed.

Maybe a declaration at around 360 would have been okay .. IF a couple of wickets had fallen. It would have given NSW a lead of 120 and they would have had to set a smaller but getable target if they wanted outright points.

However, by declaring 180 behind, it gives NSW plenty of time to set a large target and also give themselves more time to bowl SA out.

Very disappointed by the declaration.

I haven't checked the table, but I'd guess if you won every game on the first innings only, you wouldn't make the final.

In this game, 2 points means absolutely nothing.

If you're already 2nd bottom, it's a no-brainer.

The declaration was always going to happen; it was the only possible outcome.

And I'm not saying that in hindsight, I posted it this morning.

I assume that was the exact idea and you said it yourself. If we batted any longer NSW wouldn't have set us a target as they'd have no time to bowl us out. They'd just bank the 2 points. This was our only chance to get 6 points and we've kept the game alive.

There's no guarantee we would have got more than 483 anyway.

At least NSW are doing their bit to set up a last innings chase by going at 5+ runs per over. Unless if Manou has instructed the bowlers to give plenty of scoring opportunities. ;)

no clue AH

would you rather be fielding tomorrow with 2 pts in the back pocket (which will get us nowhere) and chasing NSW leather all over the place OR chasing 300 odd for the full 6 points on a batsmen friendly pitch and our top order in season best form?

SA in box seat from here IMO

SA won't be in the box seat until the declaration - if it is reasonable.

Yep read your post again and yep you didnt want SA to declare

The idea of setting a target on a last day is to make the target achievable, if they set a large target the chances are if SA lose a couple of wickets early they will shut up shop which is no good for NSW

put you money where your mouths are then, Im happy to back SA from here...

Im guessing I wont hear from either of you

A very generous declaration from Thornely did put us in the drivers seat, but he knows that beneath the surface of the in form Redbacks batting line up lies egg shells.
