All valid points smac and I agree that the issue should not be dimissed without consideration but I still can not see enough positves from the nemjfa point of view to amalgamate. Sure 20 - 30 goal hidings can be detrimental to the kids but from my point of view that is part and parcel of junior footy and the kids and parents must be prepared to accept it from time to time. Just on personal experience the team I coach got flogged by over 20 goals by one of the junior powerhouse clubs 9 weeks ago and then on Sunday turned that result around for a 2 goal win. My boys learnt a lot from the first encounter and put what they had learnt into practise on Sunday. For mine that is what junior footy is all about - teaching the kids.

Well done BM, but I feel that you may be an exception rather than a rule. A lot of junior coaches have the best intentions with little idea of how to teach the skills of the game. This needs addressing at the top (AFL endorsed coaching accreditations are the best place to start - they aren't worth diddly) and until it is, things won't change.

I feel it is time to get our own thread on this one or at least move on and let the div 3 folks have their thread back!

Cheers

smac wrote:Thanks for bringing up that old chestnut Pearcey. You should post more on the Centrals game threads too. Clubs across both leagues have had their troubles - wasn't it only last year that a game at Gepps was interrupted by some kid with a knife? (can't remember the club responsible for the player, apologies to Gepps if they feel slighted by my mentioning them here).

Of course a new body would be required, that is always the case with an amalgamation. Therefore any policy that NEMJFA has is moot.

Cheers

Fair enough point, but we were the victims in that incident. Did the cops ever get the perpetrator? I saw a match recently where an kid kept grabbing opposition kids nuts and throwing punches. So I agree most clubs have a percentage of ferals. No insult intended to the CDJFL.

Your right FC, but Junior footy always causes more emotion than the seniors, & your club is one of the clubs in the junior discussion.

Tips for Round 15 guys...

PAOC vs Salisbury (We got 2 back this week and we're pretty confident)
Pembroke OS vs Payneham NU (Sorry Lisa, but they're in awesome form and they play very well on that rectangle)
Athelstone v s Walkerville (8-10 goals)
Eastern Park vs Old Ignatians (Bit of an upset but I get the feeling Iggies are starting to struggle)
Pooraka vs Flinders Park (Will be close though, I've heard Pooraka have got a couple of guys back)

I'll go with your tips Pag. Would like to see PNU beat Pembroke OS though. I agree, their form looks to be good but this game will be a bit of a measuring stick. Also Raggies v Walkerville will show where the Cats are at although they look to have improved.

Well...Pembroke OS HAS put the cat amongst the pigeons. FC, did you have a bad one or were they good? I heard you copped a couple of injuries too. Don't worry, so did we again, finished with 17 fit men.

Will be interesting to see how we go this week. We are playing them down on their ground too.

They were good AND we were bad... watched it from the car as was still VERY crook, especially not happy that have now lost 2nd spot, now have to work harder to try and get that back for the home advantage during finals...

Last weekend was also the debut of our new away/clash jumpers which look bloody fantastic...its a shame my stupid work firewall wont allow me to upload it!

Dont underestimate walkerville come finals. They are a tall mobile running side which in dry weather, it could have been a closer score between athelstone & walkerville.
Very different side from last time athelstone played them..... i was very impressed.

Athelstone im sure will not underestimate pembrokes good form leading into the finals considering they beat a hardrunning strong pnu side. This is one game that will test athelstone before going into the finals considering some of the injuries they have.. But no matter who is injured the club has the depth to bring up quality players.

Its a shame Eastern park wont make the finals, I was impressed with there form/side last time athelstone played them.

PNU are on the slide with injuries & could cost them come finals. Iggies are finished - round 1 of finals there gone.

i reckon it looks great...thanks for posting that blublurag...stupid work firewall :x

For those that are wondering why its maroon and yellow, they were Paynehams colours pre-amalgamation. I think its something other clubs with common colours should look at.

We'll be wearing it for our last 4 games, lets just hope we can chalk up a win in it this week!

Thanks to Cam Smith and Louie Martins bum for modelling the new jumper too

It's not a bad idea at all to use the old colours, I'm up for anything that keeps a bit of tradition in football.

So is this going to be for all away games Lisa or just the ones against clubs like us, Kilburn, North Haven etc.
