Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Postby westcoastpanther » Tue Aug 01, 2006 12:35 pm

Good post Bluesy!! I don't profess to have all the answers to the problems associated with my desire to see a bigger, stronger, better supported competition. Add to that the dillema of fitting in netball and it is messy!!

If we need to stay as is, then how can Bostons be helped when BR has publicly stated the players there have no committment to the club and offer nothing. They would need to oust 20 players and recruit 20 more who want to take their families to the club and have a passion for rebuilding the Tigers. Where will people like that come from? I can't see it myself and think they are reaping what they sowed some ten years ago with their 'style' of play and the people they allowed to remain at the club back then. I don't even see Jungles there anymore!!

When all the talk of our syndicate was doing the rounds, why didn't I recieve a phone call? How serious are they......

The consortium will talk over summer with Bostons at this stage it consists of BW, TH, WCP , LMagpie, zoo, Boris and Darren Bryant. This consortium could grow over summer and if it got to 10 experienced players ....that would make a massive difference. I hope an agreement can be reached between the two parties.

I'm sorry, consortium? Players willing to go to Bostons?

Maybe were onto something here. Following Steigers proposal then we could be the short term answer. BR's comments suggest that he is in the process of doing what everyone has said they need to do for years....taking a new broom and sweeping clean. Lets assume this is a watershed year for the club, and the riff raff that has dragged them down for the past 10 years has been removed. An influx of 10 well credentialled senior players would be a step in the right direction. Splash a few bucks around and sign a few Lincoln Based GF players...throw in Beau Jenkins, Lyds, Lanzafame, Paech, Dorward, Tabe, Gus Stanthorpe etc etc....not a force to be reckoned with, but a side capable of having some 'moments' and giving a bit of hope..as well as a direction that is desperately needed.

things dont sound to positive, who wrote the Bostons write-up? "It was probably football's worst day at Centenary" . Try writing something about the game.
Grub - the coaches comment Tool of the Week award would have to go to Lamont "They were really good and we were really bad"
and what about this for stating the obvious "If we were to play in this years grand final we will need to improve a lot more than they do". Thoughts?

Bit of Wally humour I think you'll find OL, you need to take the coaches comments section as seriously as he does....

Wally was tounge in cheek, if we made the grand final I would run to Tumby naked.... so would he.
He could be a little more serious though, supporters dissapointed at the performance on Saturday dont want to hear 'we were good and they were bad and we'll make the grand final.

The coaches comments were fine today IMHO..... Nice grab in the paper HS, I cut out the mini tramp you jumped off! What about HS in the other photo.... looks like he has just dropped a knife I reckon.... good at stabbing people in the back!
I reckon OL = Luke Yancic .....by the little conversation I had with him at the Lesuire Centre.

So, we're talking the Boston Past All Stars, plus some others that are already there?
Hey, my hat goes off to lads that would do that. But like Rangerbob said earlier, that club REALLY has got to want to help itself. Toes may be trodden on, but I've seen clear outs happen, and it can work.

nothing like a kick that drops short and catches you waiting grub. he still got a little tickle in the back of the head for his efforts though.
lunchcutter WTF . thats the pot calling the kettle black i think tips. you needed action last night to comlete the trifecter.
no room for a single hs at oceans . tips has the dance floor covered, grub has the raised bit covered, the bar, the toilets, the ally and the pantry.
lock to EE, ports to GF, thats what needs to happen up our way. maybe bostons go back to only a b grade for a few years. might seem like a step in the wrong direction but EU did it and came back. just until they can complete the clean out and regain a winning feeling.

I found out the reason Mallee's didnt supply a time-keeper all day, coz they were on scoreboard duty.
The reports of them trashing the changerooms and security being called are trueand I also heard they smeared sh*t on the walls. We are pushing to have the matter taken further.
Hockey wont let us put up our honour board at the complex either which I dont agree with.

I think what Im reading here about Port Lincoln is a huge problem that is facing country footy around the state.

I don't play in Far West but you only have to look at the results to realise the competition is totally lop-sided and the future must be a concern? This is purely on the numbers of players around who will play and also the on field issues that have marred the comp in recent times.

Who knows what the future will hold........
