I love that song ...

But interesting trivia is that the band hate it. It was one of those pre-written movie soundtrack songs where the movie producers find an artist to perform it. Someone else pulled out so Simple Minds reluctantly agreed. It was a smash hit but not in their normal music style (in their opinion, they deemed it too "commercial"). So they refused to play it live for close to 10 years or so IIRC.

At least they stayed together though. A similar story is 80s band Berlin when they agreed to perform "Take My Breath Away" written by Giorgo Moroder for the Top Gun soundtrack. Again, smash hit. Again, not in their normal style. Again, they refused to play it live but relented when the fans kept demanding it. The lead singer liked it, the lead guitarist hated it and apparently the band split up not long afterwards because of that song
