Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

I agree, i know that for a fact many players would leave their central division club if they were to go down to country. Juniors mainly. I dont think many jnrs want to travel out to somewhere like Callington and take on those ferals.

exactly right robby what person in their right mind would want to travel out to callington or kersbrook to thrash a side by 40 odd goals. half the clubs rnt even in the adelaide hills.

im against relegation. also not keen on the idea of travelling out to kangarilla or some far out location im never heard of.
dale from what ive been told grainger is doing a good job controlling things at heathfield, certainly the never ending talent on his list comes in handy but we have all seen the same situation at st kilda and the right person needs to be in place to bring the best out of each player. the current results seem to speak for themselves in this regard.

Honest Injun ... S. Bellman has been noted as being out of favor at Mt Barker, maybe a case of not getting on with the coach .. would be a handy pick up .. may be he mite find a place at his ancestral home where his uncles were champions ... even the old man had a stint there. Interesting case has been mentioned if Birdwood do come up ... what happens when they play Mt Lofty, re guernseys. As for query on N. Grainger, wot I have heard from sources, he's a pretty astute coach. Prepares side well and utilises players pretty well. It mite be ok to have a side stacked full of some good talent, but you have to be able to set a system into place ... Apparently didn't do too bad a job with HFL Under 17 rep team, given he had a short build up to the matches ...

i agree with birdwood not going up to div 1 . but to try and keep the the 2 comps as even as possible when the likes of scores in the country div last week. where too for callington nairne maacy and div 1 teams bridgy ironbank. surely these teams need to recruit heavily for next year. but if you have no money you will end up with no team. so what are the options
1. compete in either division with a weakened side and get thrashed each week
2. amalgamate
3 if you have money recruit
4. dissolve
5. hfl form a third division (going back to the old days)
i would be interested to see the forum's answers on the future of teams that are struggling not only on the field but off because i know even the good teams are struggling money wise :D

How could it not be the best performing team that comes up, if anyone?? WTF?
Birdwood would get murdered, surely.
regarding the guernseys, if one club doesn't change permanently, the league would probably provide an alternative ie a fluro green/yellow??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that happens in the amateurs.

Well its seems that we have no choice on the Birdwood situation as the HFL says that they are coming up to central and are staying for atleast 3 years. I dont think they will do any worse than Mt Lofty have been in years gone by and Bridgewater currently.

Indian I'll have a small something on Coad kicking more goals than Brown this weekend.
Thunderers may have something up there sleeve to combat him. Its called the weather !!

My contacts tell me you go alright in the wet as well.

Re Bellman any Mt Barker followers out there to throw a bit more fuel on the fire ??

Thunder. Sounds like the Ironbank magoo's would give the A's a run for their money. Not long ago Canpbell and Sodomka would have been first picked for A's. Has time caught up with them. Hope not looking for September success in B's rather that trying to get things right at A level. Not correct image to set for juniors. I am told they have some handy young uns. Stacking minor grades pisses me off.

Magpie, Uraidla beat Ironbank by 4 goals in very wet and cold conditions. Brown kicked 6 in the first half, none in the 2nd.

Lobethal defeated Bridgewater by a couple of goals and I heard Blackwood thrashed Hahndorf.

Mt Lofty play Mt Barker today.

Early rise today thunder!

Seems a fair effort to get within only 4 goals of Uraidla. Wonder what would have happened if they decided to pick their full strength side, instead of trying to quallify blokes for the B-Grade finals. One more win in The A's would clear them of the wooden spoon, that should be the clubs priority.
I'm Tipping an upset in the big clash today. Barkers to Roll Lofy in a hard fought slog

Fair call Indian. Yes it was a good effort although in the end it was the class factor and 6 from Brown all in the first half that got Uraidla over the line. Having said that on yesterdays form they should give Hahndorf a run for their money next week although will miss Big J Lyon and Morrissey who both suffered hammies and unlikely to front up. I owe you one as well as see Coad only kicked 5. Brown the beneficairy of some soft free kicks courtesy of IB's favourite whistle blower N Clarke !!!

Couple of other notable faces in the B Grade for IB, Chris Naughton, Ryan Bretag and Adam Bishop. That will give the Straight Shooter something to talk about.

Blackwood had a good win, now only 1 game out of the five. They need to string a couple of wins together starting with Onkas next week.

So much for me thinking an upset was on the cards as Mt Lofty 23 -17 flogged Mt Barker 9-6.

Uraidla vs Mt Lofty GF for sure now.

How wrong i was to doubt the might of the devils robby. My contacts say they were a class above the barkeroos, who's reign as the dominant force in the hills is surely over.
Dont know about that prediction thunder, onkas have ample talent in their side, and with schutta and masters set to return, they are more than capable on their day!
Where has Redmuff Smith gone?? Didnt kick any in Blackwoods big win. Has he hung up the boots??

Couldn't get to Barker, too busy watching the mighty Bays!
But did have player-mates out there and I think the scoreline indicates who really is a chance at a flag, this late in the season.Well done to ironbank to get close to Uraidla. I think Ironbank could beat Hahndorf, but their possible outs are now a big factor.
ironically, just a week and a half after seeing my top 5 predictions from early in the year, and doubting them very much, it could come into fruition.
Hahndorf slipping down, Blackwood on the up.
Everyone's destiny is in their own hands, from the top to the basement.
