U19 National Championships

Postby Banker » Tue Dec 09, 2008 10:38 am

Has anyone got links to the scores of the u19 nationals in Newcastle?

This group won the u17 championships 2 years ago, suggests we should be a serious threat this year :)

The selected Under 19 Boys squad for the National U19 Championships to be held in Newcastle from December 8-19 is listed below.

Isaiah Borgas
Alex Carey
Kane Richardson
Brad Davis
Kirk Pascoe
Ben Dougall
Cameron Francis
Joel Garrett
Doug Newton
Tom Brinsley
Corey Solley
Aaron Mullins
Joel Dolman
Brad Evans

especially with the addition of Kane Richardson from the NT in the side, quality bowler...look for Isaiah Borgas to dominateand get man of the series

Thats interesting because i noticed Ben Dougall in this side and from what i can tell he's only played a handful of A grade District games, whereas Nobes seems to be playing regularly in the higher division. Presumably there's more to it than this though.

Garret is in State Under 17 team recently announced

Ben Dougall is an enormous talent. Recently spent a week up in the Centre of Excellence in QLD with the Australian Under 18 squad.

Unfortunately under championship rules the match was treated as drawn.

Yep. Pretty sure that's how it works for the 2 dayers. I think matches can be tied, drawn, won on 1st innnings or won outright. Side that bats first has to declare at end of day one.

That seems a little stupid to me. It is like a limited overs game and we scored more than them ,so we should win IMO, but hey i don't make the rules.

Seems a bit funny I agree. I think it's played to time.

From memory, last year in the 17s grand final, NSW batted first and SA knocked them over cheaply. SA then batted and passed the score then shut up shop and batted well into the second day before they were all out. NSW had to try for an outright but didn't have time to pass SA and set a target. Essentially it's a 2 day game played under "Sheffield Shield" rules.

As far as I know 1 dayers and 20/20s are also played as part of the championship.

Game 2 Day 1

SA 218 (Dougall 36, Davis 36, Carey 35, Brinsley 28 no)

ACT 5/18 (Richardson 2/6, Brinsley 3/3)

Let's hope the rain holds off.
