Keswick and Mitchell park played their 20/20 tonight. Absolutely torrid conditions and probably the worst i have ever played in. Keswick all out for 89 in the 15th and mitchell park made the runs 1 down in the 16th. Mitchell park prob got the best of the conditions as drenthen and co were able to bowl off their long runs until bout the 12th. McKinley came off 3 steps and was nothing as were the rest of the Keswick bowlers in the conditions. However, conditions aside, the game was played well and it was just unfortunate that the weather was f**ed up! P.S its mickey mouse!

Or maybe he was still pissed off because he didn't get his hat-trick lol.

Not that its a big deal, but we've almost learnt the hard way in the past not to go a little bit past the opposition's score, just in case there's issues with the score sheet and it doesn't add up. So the captain thought it might be safer just to bat an extra over.

He asked that we call out when we went 6 runs past, which is what we did.

As I said, no big deal.

i know the winner of south road and WYC will be happy with that result! i know any side can win in a 20/20 but still MItchell Park winning is probably a little bonus for the winner of South Road and WYC....im predicting a Coro ramblers win against ICC in the 20/20 semi final.. which will then make it a WYC and ramblers final i hope!

Last nights weather certainly wasn't the best for cricket so it would've tough having to bowl second.

Do the boys who have been playing section 1 now for a long time think that the standard has dropped off a bit? Ive been back playing sect 1 for only 4 years now but i have noticed a decline, especially this year, there are some ordinary cricketers playing sect 1. Me included :)

I have not seen any this year bazza, but, from what I saw in recent years I would say yes.

The top line players are as good as the equivalent from 10 years ago but the depth is nowhere near as deep.

Agreed mate the depth isn't what it was when i first started. I think there has been a generational change and section 1 is a heap younger than what it was 5-6 years ago. I think in 3-4 years time the competition will be a very strong one again with good depth. As Booney said i think we still have a top level of players but the middle range is probably what used to be the lower range players IMO.

I suppose as a result of the younger section 1 some of the lower grades are very strong as they have lots of ex section 1 players.

I would say the standard had been slowly falling for about 20 years up until a year or so ago. Section 2 would now be stronger than I have ever seen and section 1 is back on the rise. The depth across all clubs may not yet be what it used to be but clubs at the top have probably got more depth in Sect 1 and 2 than for many years - we certainly have. I think the big difference is we are missing a few top players from a year or two ago. Look at the list of who has (come and) gone in last couple of years:

Strange CR
Thomas x2 MP
MacKay K
Rossi SR
Tam NH
Ferris W
Krutli SR (atleast not in sect 1)
Hartlett SR (gone now isn't he?)
Roberts WYC
Ledgard ICC

Now list off all the players who currently dominate week in week out...

Hopkins WYC
Sampson? ICC
Curyer K (having a good season atleast)
OMalley ANA (well past his best but knows how to take wickets)

I'm sure there's a few I've missed but the list is nowhere near as impressive (JB no sheidow boys have had enough time to prove anything yet).

These blokes get replaced with time, but not overnight. The top teams are still playing good Sect 1 cricket, we just need the Coros, NHs, Mit Pks, etc to step up.
