we have had people apply for the job, that is not the problem, the problem is we want a coach that is going to move the club forwards not just the first person that comes through the door. We are currently in talks with a few people and should hopefully have some news shortly.

wow.

i'm beginning to think we should re-do the fixture, as there will be no BYE after lonsdale announce they are not a part of the SFL in 09?

Nah mate you are a classy character.Neither was that funny or intelligent, this is the future of a local club who we all wish to succeed for the good of the competition and all you can pull out is a typical steriotype. Ok I have pulled out steriotypes in the past but i'd never kick a club whilst they are on the ground. What happened to the old saying "Though I aim to defeat you, If I do I will not humiliate you, because without you I would be a lesser man". That right there is why i love the Olympics.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Pull your head in TBB you have made 6 negative posts already on this thread. A player from a fellow struggling club is in no position to post the constant negative crap that you have been coming up with.
The Lions will DEFINATELY be around in 2009. An announcement in regards to a coach is getting closer with two more potential coaches to be interviewd this weekend. I feel there will be an anouncement within 2 weeks. The players have been doing pre season, not huge numbers but already over 30 faces over the 5 sessions. Real positive vibe out there at the moment, picked up 3 recruits (Loveridge returning a huge one) and at this stage have lost no one. We do know that 3 of our senior players have been approached and we will do everything in our power to keep them. At the end of the day we cant afford to lose anyone BUT we only want players who want to play for us.

i've also posted that i wish you all the luck in the world and would hate to see you guys fold. so dont get ya knickers in a tangle. i was merely asking/noting what most others are thinking. yes, i am involved in a struggling club, and know exactly what it takes to try and get back on top of things. as for announcing a coach "within 2 weeks", it was posted on here a couple months ago that a coach would be named within a week or so. so why would we believe you this time?

i spose it comes down to if the Lions definately say they are appearing in the 2009 fixture then whats it matter if they name a coach now or 3 weeks before the commencement of the season. It is'nt going to affect anyone else in the league apart from those involved in the Lonsdale footy club. I guess because Lonsdale doesn't have the same stature as some of the leading clubs in the league, it may not readily attract a coach as quickly as these clubs. I am willing to take the word of the Lions faithful when they say they are around this yr without worrying whether they have a coach or not, like its the be all and end all of a football club. IMO

Spot on Hunter ! It wouldn't be the first time a coach has not been appointed before Christmas.
I firmly believe they'll appoint one soon. It's not as if the season's about to start !

the season has started for most clubs called pre season. i know if i was about to do pre season somewhere and didnt have a coach id not be impressed. plus noone would sign to play for you this year with no direction. so youve let most coaches slip thru your fingers and players

If you read Lion Heart's post there is a pre-season in place. My bet is one or two senior players looking after things in a caretaker capacity. Probably find the atmosphere is quite positive.
I won't get worried about the Lions unless there is still no news much closer to kick off.
