You are boring me MC.

Where there is smoke there is fire and United aren't angels when it comes to clearing blokes. I can't be bothered arguing over petty little side issues.

You got nothing Shrek!! MC has absolutely smoked you!!

Looks like everyone is sick of listening to your un-educated crap.

Fact - United's policy when a clearance is lodged is to have a meeting with that player to see if it can be sorted out. If not, then the clearance is always granted. Most times the players issues can be resolved or his mind changed.
Fact - Quite often other clubs put in clearances on behalf of a player before the player has actually committed. This usually an attempt to sway a potential player & to get things moving. Which often ends in a player changing their mind, hence the club then refusing the clearance.
Fact - All paid players are on contracts. Some, as in Willy's case, are on multiple year contracts. So quite reasononable to expect these contracts to be honoured or you shouldn't sign them.
One day original John Palmer will be found & the truth will be known.

Yeah good news. i heard there were some fire works at the AGM? Is this true?

Maybe in 2009 the committee can do something about the league medal presentation. We talk about not wanting to host finals at many ovals because it does not make the league look good and I probably agree. We want to give out the best image possible.

BUT...What about the league medal presentation!! This year it was a disgrace. Plastic plates, food that was sub standard (I am in no way blaming Virginia for this) and lets be honest Buschy should not host such an event! He was lucky Neil Kerley was a little bit interesting. Just generally a tacky, slap dash, bogan, non atmosphere kind of night. Hardly a good image for the league.

i agree, the medal nights remind me off watching the sound of music all night long over and over, enough to swim with the sharks, its needs to be liven up a bit,how i dont know?but its needs a big improvment and yes sack busch from host,he arnt funny and how about including more junior stuff and there association pluses during the yr,as i said before you never see a apfl person at any junior assocition games.as for finals>my guesses united two wells hamley balaklava> not in any order

think you may be pointing fingure at wrong person above!
league organised kerls.
clubs incharge of food etc.
two wells did a fine job the year before
(which i believe was on less $$$ per person)

but i do agree. definately not good image for league.
how many people from this year, would want to go next?
i would think not many based on what there was this year!

Didn't front up this year and got a bake from the Netty Ladies for my trouble!!

But the report i got was similar to the above comments, and the several times i have been, have been promoted as a suit and tie sort of event only to show up and witness a front bar meat raffle (no offence to front bar meat raffles but they are.....front bar meat raffles!)

It seems to me that the league either doesn't get much $$ from sponsors, or don't seem to spend it if they do. They should get any number of personalities to head up the event, Kym Dillion, Mark bickley, Pete Cavan, anyone! Buschy can enjoy the night with a few cold ones and it would all be run by the club who's turn it is.

The APFL has sponsors i know they do, but they probably aren't getting a lot of exposure for their coin, so as a result are not kicking a heap. The League should get a big name sponsor on board so at least the Assoc side can get a jumper each year, and and pay for a bus for the squad to get to yorke's where i think it is this coming year.

Come on lad's let's get proactive about the future in the APFL
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

Those are good ideas. Here are a few things that are free or cost almost nothing that would improve the night 100%.

Real plates and cutlery.
Some white table cloths.
A strict dress code!
Someone from the league with more charisma than buschy to co-host.

There is obviously an attitude towards the night that has developed amongst players and officials... that needs to be changed. It is not a sunday session at the local pub. It is a night to showcase the league and celebrate its best players.
Some folks are wise and some are otherwise.

I do not wish to start a big debate but was trying to understand what level the plains league would be equivelent to in the city. Basically what division would teams be COMPETITIVE against. Looking for people honest answer, no right or wrong.

think this has been done to death on numerours occasions.
all it ends up with is guys from the div 2-4 leagues saying how crap the apfl is....

think the general consensus is that top few sides are high div 3 & bottom sides div 4.
so you would think a league as a whole would be comparable to div 3...

Kilburn have a verbal agreement to play Hummocks in a trial this year so that may give us an idea.

By the way, I don't think too many people have bagged the APFL. The general consensus is div 3, but when people start saying div 2 they are deluded. The top div 3 teams as they stand would get pumped in div 2, there is a massive gap. The reason some promoted teams stay up is because they recruit half a side.

If you had more youth on your committee instead of has-been fossils you might be a little more forgiving. You probably cant remember back that far to put yourselves in his shoes.

Yeah your totally right mate its all about the age of our committee! Lets see Mallala last 2 years v hamley last 2 years. I know, lets inject some youth into our committee so that Moff can play at Hamley under his youthful committee. You idiot!

Lets compare. What if Jamie Lowe 2 years ago had come to your committee and said OK "young committee of HBFC" I want to leave here (a club where I am a local and my father is present (goal ump in lowe's case)) and play against you next season at Mallala? You cannot possibly tell me that you would clear him no questions asked!!!! So get real!

All you blokes crying about Mallala not clearing players within the league, your a bunch of knobs!

How often in this league are top 10 A graders of a team cleared to other clubs within this league without question Not many. Why, well other than the fact that most clubs are morally "on channel", and dont usually go around poaching players, the main reason is that it is just not the done thing in country footy esp in the APFL, as loyalty in country footy is what makes a strong and successful club.

If Mallala was to clear players first time everytime they applied to be cleared the whole situation would become a mockery and every bloke would be doing it, which would totally demoralise the loyalty of the footy club. Its happening in the Barossa over the last few years and its a joke.

Tell me MC why wasnt Willy cleared to Kilburn last year. A required player?? Well Moff is in a similar situation so as the season doesnt start for 3 months why would we clear him now without speaking to him and trying to convince him to come back? I would say that that is what happaned with Willy. What has MFC got to gain by clearing a player as soon as he applies for it? Not much I would have thought!

So until your club is placed in a similar situation where they will be playing against you, its easy to criticise, but get realistic, nobody wants thier locals playing in opposite colours. I would hate to see Ben Moffatt get a smack in the head or a gentle rib tickler or ten, as an opponent :D !

Well as a committee member. And the fact I respect Jamie Lowe, and hypothetically like Moff he had been thinking about making the move. I would say go ahead. I dont want players in my team or club... when their heart is not in it. And if they are a mate, I would try do the right thing. Yeah it would be tough, but these things happen.

But I can only speak for myself Swamp, not the rest of the committee. this is my opinion.
