I reckon he'd be a busy man, he is always at Centrals past player/official events as well. A terrific guy, loves a chat about footy.

1. The use of 'obviously' in every answer to every question asked of an AFL player and now officials. It has spread to other sports now - infuriating.

2. People assuming that Aussie Rules is the name of our code and getting upset with the AFL encouraged generic term of 'AFL' (which I note they are backing away from). Australian Football it is.

3. SANFL not understanding how good the SANFL is. Find another competition that is sub-elite yet has the interest of the media, sponsors, crowds, player payments and general intensity of our competition - in the world. Some college sport in the US and possibly their baseball farm system but in a city the size of Adelaide we have a competition that is extraordinary.

4. Assumptions regarding player choices with clubs - some decide by money alone but many have significant other considerations.

5. Ignorant club supporters who assume their club had first dibs on the Gowans brothers. It seems nearly every club all but had them according to many. Ask Kris - they were always going to play where Daniel Healy played through their Saints connection.

6. Centrals spewing forth about their imitating Port Adelaide - they did nothing of the sort. Read 'Any Given Team' for the Centrals 'secret'.

7. Use of the term hate when discussing sport. Ugly word best left to war.

well, ...hed probably been watching all pre match hype on telly all week, so.. ..maybe

all i'm saying is, you only hear it from the vicco media when they want to jump on the bandwagon.

You can't eliminate challenge finals (1900-1930) from the calculations.

You win the challenge final you win the premiership. That was the system back then as a unique way of the minor premier having a double chance. You cant change history because you dont like the concept.

My stats are based on the premiership deciding game, or whatever the last game of the season was.

Some years that was the final (when no challenge), other times the challenge final.

In the years mentioned the Challenge Final was, effectively, the Grand Final for sides finishing 2nd to 4th after the minor round. For those sides, the "Final" was the only the equivalent of the Preliminary Final of today - either the next step to the main event, or an elimination.

The "Final" was only the decider if won by the minor premier.

I remember their Grand Final week back in 2005. Given some of the hype coming out of Melbourne at the time, you could be forgiven for thinking that South Melbourne never relocated in the first place.
