An omen for the Redbacks?

Postby Adelaide Hawk » Mon Dec 01, 2008 8:19 pm

Tasmania finished bottom in 2004-05, two seasons later (2006-07) they win the Shield (or cup as it was then).

New South Wales finished bottom in 2005-06, two seasons later (2007-08) they win the shield.

South Australia finished bottom in 2006-07, two seasons later (2008-09) .... could they? Hmmm ... just a thought :)

The side has made significant progress, not huge progress, but they have definitely improved this season. The lack of huge batting collapses alone shows the improvement, plus some of the young batsmen such as Borgas and Ferguson going on to make hundreds.

The side shouldn't be looking at any silverware this year, just a continuation of the improvement so that they're ultra competitive maybe in another 2 years time.

Only 10pts from a place in the final and a game clear of last season's champions. ;)

This is the same guy who thinks Watto is a superstar. He tells everyone left right and centre how bad SA is and then uses the performance of an incredibly mediocre cricketer against the side he keeps telling everyone is such a rabble to justify why said mediocre cricketer is good

NFC is like the mother who tells the army sergeant that everyone is out of line except her son.

10 points is 2 outright wins! We are 5 games from the end of the season I think and we could be 5th if Tassie knock off NSW to even up the games played. No doubt we are improving and the recruits whom everyone was so outspoken about in Klinger, Wise and O'Brien on top of Christian last season are doing a superb job. But in terms of this season we'd need to win at least 4 or the remaining 5 games outright.

This thread was only an attempt to put a positive slant on how the Redbacks are travelling after a very good win yesterday. I'm not suggesting for a moment I think it will happen, I'm just saying it's possible.

The thing I'm starting to like about the Redbacks is the message seems to be getting through to the players that you will only find a spot in the side if you are prepared to work hard, and perform when the opportunity presents itself.

After each match at least one more player cements his place into the team in the short to medium term which can only be good for consistency. Hopefully a certain other player may start to take notice of what's going on, stop driving into Hungry Jacks drive throughs, and start running past them.
