Lads, iv noticed on some other cricket forums that they are posting some odds on who will win the flag in Div 1. So i thought it would be interesting to see where everyone would have teams sit in their "markets".
This is mine:
ICC $2.50 - Good side, strong bowling attack, rely heavily on Sampson with the bat. Lack of batsman??
Sheidow Park $3 - Young side, newly promoted, but havnt lost for a while, will that be their downfall??
WYC $5.50 - Young side, consistency is the issue but been a top 4 side for many years.
Ramblers $7 - Great start and would not be suprised to see them in the GF
Westminster $10 - Bowling attack is good, but can there batters make it when the pressure is on?
Keswick $11 - If they keep making big scores theyll be hard to beat
South Road $21 - Last years premiers, cant write them off even tho completely different side
Plympton $21 - Good start for them, bowling is very suspect!
Glenelg ANA $71 - Talented side with well known players but when will they come to the party?
North Haven $151 -Young side that will improve with games under their belts
Mitchell Park $201 - No chance, but may have a say in who makes the four
Coromandel $501 - No chance

Obviously IMO, i think its down to 6 sides, but all sides are capable of matching it with the top 6, just a matter of how often they can do it for!

AF - I thought the shirts for Sunday are bright green? I'm almost certain they're not blue.

Either way, should be a good day. If anyone's around and sees us, don't be afraid to come over and say hello. We're a pretty friendly bunch.

There must be something in the water up at Ironbank where the same jokes get re-used a fair bit (I'm looking at you as well, JB).

And yeah, I'll have the camera. Will try and avoid your ugly mug if you're around, don't want to ruin the poor camera.

I would have the ramblers ahead of us at WYC. I would also have Mitchell Pk ahead of Nth Haven and Glenelg they have been going reasonably well.

You'd certainly make for a tight-firsted bookie... Having said that, I don't have too many arguments with where you've placed teams.

My personal predictions would be:
* Westminster might fall away with J Murphy being out - they need to keep the runs right down when in the field to be competitive
* Coromandel to make a big impact come the 2nd half of the season and will finish around 8th
* A number of surprises to come from lower teams beating higher teams after Christmas - I'm going with at least 1 upset a week. Too many lower teams have too much talent to continually lose

Keep in mind, its early days and each team has only played 4 others, so there's a lot of unknowns still - so there's a high chance I'm full of it

Very similar position, but lost to Keswick and Westminster last season - westminster outright.

Also, of the 4 blokes that 'carried' the team last yr, not one has been relied on this yr to get us over the line. Very different attitude and young blokes matured.

Agreed, its a lot more even effort across the board so far. So far, leading wicket taker has taken more than he did for all last year, 2nd barely played A-grade... leading run getter is new to the club and is close between a few guys. Our section 2 side is very competitive this year with a lot of youth which helps as well.

Its a different side with a different attitude. But, there's a whole heap of work still to do for us to be considered a top 4 side IMO. Until we play "the big 3" (Sheidow, WYC, ICC), we can't be sure where we stand.

Past seasons' collapses are firmly in mind.

I actually agree with the order of teams, just cant see too many people gettin on at $2.50 or $3, cricket is a funny game.

ah fair enough then! just some rough guesses i put up in a couple of minutes..
WYCBLOODS - why ramblers in front of us? im by no means sayin there crap or nethin but i personally think we prob deserve it and have more "proven" guys then they do, i think being minor premiers last two years n the premiers 3 years ago, prob shows we will be around the mark, and ramblers fell away last year. I know we still may fall away and not make the 4 ourselves which is a possibility with a young side we have... I had mitchell park behind Glenelg ANA because i dont think mitchell park can match many top sides, but ANA definitely can match em. But behind north haven fair enough prob wrong there.
Roseboy, i think glenelg ANA and sides like Plympton and Mitchell Park, and to a lesser extent North Haven, are all capable of beating the top sides when they are on song.. i think i wrote that a couple sides will have a say in how the finals turn out.. i just hope they dont bring their a game and beat WYC

I don't see the final 4 changing, was set from round 3. The positions may, but they will all be in finals unless they do a Ramblers after christmas and only win one game..

Maybe you are right CK but put them ahead of us and then there is more pressure on the ramblers   .

Im not saying its gonna happen again because we got a few different players this year, but Westminster at the halfway mark and even further in the competition last season were sitting about 6th if i remember correctly and came home real strong, mainly due to some awesome bowling from Shane Ferris who isnt with us this year. We thought we had grabbed second spot until we found out Sth Rd also got an outright win. All im saying is dont count out anyone. We've always said we are an after christmas team.
