Clearly Marsh is a better player because in a couple of 20/20 games he hit a few 6's. Must mean that in a Test matches he will dominate and smash hundreds off 60 balls on a consistent basis. Is it so difficult to see this

looks like chris rogers made a few runs at the right time.

i think this will be haydens last series, maybe last test match if he fails again in adelaide. chris rogers for the short term, then Phil Jaques and possibly Phil Hughes if he continues to make runs.

Is there something wrong with the people from Seaford Rise DT? Another generalisation similar to those, generally when talking about Centrals, who talk about the 'ferals' or 'idiots' from Elizabeth. It gets really boring actually.

IMHO Katich has made a massive difference by looking to attack more. In test cricket I don't think you can just sit back and wait because sooner of later the bowling will get you out. You need to put the opposition under pressure. This seems to lead to less wicket taking deliveries, not to mention fewer attacking fieldsmen so perhaps those edges don't go to a third slip. Without having a close look at the stats, it seems when Katich scores at 50+ runs per 100 balls his average is much higher than below that mark.

This is no generalisation, DILLIGAF did actually get in the gene pool while the lifeguard wasn't watching. I suggest you do some reading of the Southern Cricket Association thread and see the thought provoking posts by some of the Seaford Rise CC faithful.

Thank you very much for your suggestion, it is appreciated and firmly noted.

May I say at this time that Simon Katich is a gun. He will make a double century in the Adelaide test. You heard it here first.

I also think this will be Hayden's last series if he doesnt start to make some runs. I dont think he will put himself before the team. Then it will be Katich and Jacques opening with Rogers being that unlucky class opener australia has always been lucky enough to have. Haydos should just shut us all up and smash the kiwis this weekend.

IIRC Jacques is out for the season, in which case if Hayden is that close to the end then Rogers would be in IMHO. His form for Victoria has been outstanding thus far, especially in the last couple of weeks. He's actually hitting the form that if maintained would put a lot of pressure on those in the side. The stories of Australia's demise in the test arena are forgetting the talent we have playing in the domestic comp. The top team may lose form and the odd series now and then but when you've got guys like Rogers, Voges, Marsh, North, Paine, Noffke and Bollinger kicking around you're going to win more than you lose.

If Hayden Retires, then in my opinion, Rogers should come in. Also if symonds isnt up to it then he must also go. The team to take on the South Africans should be (if Hayden retires) is:

Katich
Rogers
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
North
Hadding
Lee
Johnson
Krezja (depending on fitness)
Clarke
12 - Siddle

We need his batting to fire mostly agains the South Africans. And so far he has 28 and 20. Needs runs this test. All im saying is we need to pick the best team possible not the most popular team.

I agree, i don't think Symonds should have been brought back in the side, at least at this stage, he did nothing to deserve it, with mediocre form and off field issues. The side would have been much off playing a younger batsman in his place to give him chance to develop.

I reckon North should have been given a chance. At 29 he is a bit like Mike Hussey at the moment. Has the form with the bat, is a good cricketer and is now mature enough to be a success at the highest level.

Bump

His stats are interesting, 6 tons in his career all come against West Indies, NZ and India

England - Fail
Sth Africa - Fail

62 test innings for 5 tons hardly against world class opposition (took out the ton in India last year - credit where due) it isnt a record of a opener that we need that aint going to get any better

Time to go Mr Kat 8)
