Shane Watson makes way for Peter Siddle

I thought Krezja was pretty unlucky to miss out in brissie after taking 12 in his first match.

Watson hasn't established himself after been given plenty of chances. turf him. I think if the selectors are going to persist with this notion of an allrounder, he has to average about 30 with the bat and take a couple of wickets each test.

If he's batting in the top 6 he needs to be averaging a lot more than 30. The guy is simply not good enough to play at the highest level. His performances in Test cricket support what i am saying. He is a dud.

Do you know anything about horses for courses and selecting players in accordance with conditions?

Someone in the English press wrote an article that was quite insulting to Siddle following his debut in India. Basically it was said that if this kid is the best young quick we can come up with then Pietersen and co. will be licking their lips come the Ashes. Ignorance and idiocy at its finest.

Brissie is the pitch that Shane Warne famously said he would like to take with him where ever he went.
This horses for courses thing is BS. It's just a convenient catch phrase that they trot out, pardon the pun, when they've decided to drop a bloke.

I agree with the Dogwatcher. If the Kiwis could actually bat we would be in a bit of strife. I was there on day three and the wicket was a beauty to bat on that day. If they could bat we'd be crying out for the Krazy man. Let's hope they don't pull that shit when we play the Jarpies.

I was also bemused by the selection of two batting allrounders in the side.
Well, that's what we're told they are.
I would've thought it better to have decent batter/bowler in the side than two batting allrounders.
The selection decision should have been:

Symonds or Watson
Krejha or Siddle

Not Symonds & Watson.

This is 2008, not 1987 when we were looking for anyone to fill the side with a bit of talent, so an allrounder was deemed essential.

Clearly selection policy deems it as essential in 2008 DW.

Not a big wicket taker and after 8 tests has a batting average of 19 so dosn't look to me a good enough prospect with the bat either. I wish the selectors would stop picking a team on IPL 20/20 form. Next we will probably have S.Marsh and Ronchi in the test team   .

what would be the problem there s marsh will be better than katich and ronchi is heaps better than haddin if he didnt play for nsw he wouldnt be in the test team

Why do people think Ronchi is any good. Because he smashed a couple of scores in meaningless 20/20 rubbish? Watch his keeping. It's no good. His batting is so grossly over rated as well but his keeping is no where near an acceptable standard for international cricket and the only reason i can work out that he even gets a gig in first class cricket is that there must be a shortage of any half decent keepers in WA coupled with the obsession people have with his over rated slogging.

I cannot believe how carried away people get with 20/20 form and performances. It means nothing when it comes to real cricket..

It's amazing that Katich and a couple of other guys came before that match and said that it reminded them of a deck in a shield final a couple of years back. It seemed a bit the first couple of days and then turned into turning deck with variable bounce. Also Warnies best figures have come at the Gabba.

Conditions are always fairly overated i've thought, you better off playing guys that are in form and are on a role rather than chopping and changing the team all the time. This continual changing of the team by the selectors will come back and bite us on the arse i reckon
