Second Test; Adelaide: Australia vs New Zealand

Postby hearts on fire » Sun Nov 23, 2008 3:30 pm

The Test starts Friday, 28-11-08 and I think this match will be the complete opposite from the last match. We will see Australia's out of form batsmen, make huge scores and we will see Australia's dominance over New Zealand.

New Zealand will struggle on this pitch, there bowlers will get tonked and their batsmen will fail. My thoughts, Australia to win alot easier than the first Test.

Only the one change to the 12 man squad, Shane Watson has been OMITTED.

The Squad:

Ricky Ponting (c)
Michael Clarke (vc)
Matthew Hayden
Simon Katich
Michael Hussey
Andrew Symonds
Brad Haddin (wk)
Jason Krejza
Brett Lee
Stuart Clark
Mitchell Johnson
Peter Siddle

Watson has been omitted and Siddle comes in for him. It is a battle between Siddle and Krejza.

I think Krejza will get the gig ahead of Siddle because we need a spinner on this deck and we do not need 4 quicks on a track like this.

Hayden should be forced to retire in this test, will be his 100th fitting way to end his career.

C.Rogers by a country mile, has proven track record at shield level. Dont give me this S.Marsh garbage will be lucky to retain his spot for W.A.

Yeah could be a option, but I like Hussy at 5 to steady the ship. With a average in the 60,s I find it hard see them moving him up the order. Bit like when S.Waugh was at 5 and their was a call for him to go to 3, if its working no need to change it.

Mike Hussey bats at 4. I don't understand why everyone keeps thinking he bats at 5. Anyway he shouldn't be moved from 4.

There is no need to replace Hayden either. FFS the guy showed his class in the last Test in India. He got a great ball against NZ that you would have to be in form to actually get an edge on. What is it with everyone being so quick to write off champions? Hayden is still the best choice to open the batting for Australia.

For what it's worth if a player is to be picked in the middle order D. Hussey is the man. Forget North, Marsh and anyone else D. Hussey deserves to be the next in line.

Most of Haydens dismissals have come from ripper balls or bad decisions. But for some reason, if you're 37, it's a signal to retire, if he was 27, people would say that it's just a rough patch.

If we think Hayden's should retire, we are pretty silly. Ponting hasn't made that much more runs than Hayden....... should we drop Ponting or make Ponting retire?
